The hotel itself was a great experience and we did enjoy the novelty of staying in the prison which I would recommend to anyone.
Upon arrival we were welcome by the team but very basic information was given, leading to us missing a tour of the hotel which we were told was included in the price. The manager then offered for one of the team to do a later tour for just the two of us which was cut short, very awkward and definitely not worth the money paid for. If we had been advised of the tour with the bigger group when checking in we may have had a better experience.
We decided to book dinner at the chapel to experience it as much as we could but dinner was poor. We had to wait for our table, 3 different people asked for our name before we sat down and then again a fourth person checked once we were sat down. With minimal staff on the service was poor to say the least and The burger ordered was pretty much raw, I did not finish it. Once we had finished no one came to ask if we wanted anything else or to look at a dessert menu. We left the restaurant with no one even there working! Not sure where the team had disappeared to.
Breakfast was good and would recommend it.

Professional & helpful staff at check in & check out. Restaurant staff were also polite & professional. Food at breakfast & evening meal was tasty & plated well. Rooms were clean & comfortable.

A unique building and the unlikely match between luxury hotel and former prison has been skilfully achieved. Unlike other contributors, I thought the restaurant was very good, though it was mean not to have ANY vegetables with the sole. The prmises are both interesting and comfortable and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this fascinating location.

Fascinating building, rooms are lovely. The bed and pillows are so comfortable, the staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly, will definitely be visiting again.

Cannot fault the hotel, second time we have stayed here. The rooms are amazing and the investment on the once dilapidated gaol has done it justice. Be wary how ever we have eaten twice in the Chapel restaurant and both times have been a disappointment. We will however come back to the hotel but will seek food elsewhere.

We had a really enjoyable one night stay here which was a gift for a birthday. The building is immaculate, interesting and has been lovingly saved with great attention to detail. As a hotel, the rooms are very comfortable, quiet with lovely bathrooms. We were on a warden experience which included a welcome drink and a very informative and fun hotel tour. We had dinner included in our package but as this was pre- booked early for us at 6.15pm, we actually did not have dinner and took a taxi to Padstow for some sea air and seafood. We did have a drink in the Chapel bar and though small, it is lovely. We were served by a lovely local young man who had returned from travelling after Uni. Breakfast the following morning was exceptional. The visit included a ticket to the jail museum which is brilliant and should not be missed. It is so positive that this building has been saved with so much local history brought to life not to mention employment opportunities too. I would not hesitate to recommend it.
