Die Lage ist fast schon malerisch zu nennen: direkt an der historischen Bahnstrecke, daneben ein schöner kleiner Garten. Das Hotel und das Zimmer sind eigentlich sehr schön - alles ist aber ein wenig renovierungsbedürftig, wie schon von anderen kritisiert (abblätternde Farbe, Wasserflecken an Decke etc.). Wir hatten ein großes Zimmer im Turm mit schönem Blick und öffenbaren Fenstern. Die Räumlichkeiten im Restaurantbereich sind sehr stilvoll. Das Frühstück mit à la carte-Bestellung und frischem Obst ist sehr positiv hervorzuheben. Aber auch hier setzt sich leider die fehlende Sauberkeit fort: dreckige Gläser und Tassen. Parkplätze gibt es genügend und sie sind kostenlos - was bei dem recht gehobenen Zimmerpreisen auch nötig ist. Ich kann aufgrund der Mängel auch die Leute verstehen, die nur 3 Sterne geben - aber insgesamt reicht die Schönheit des Hauses und des Ausblicks für mich noch für 4.

We visit here for lunch every time we come to the area and we are never disappointed, genuinely surprised at some of the reviews regarding staff and service, we've never experienced a problem in the 5 years we have been visiting. We had a great welcome in the bar and the staff were really helpful and attentive, they seemed to want to be there. I ordered the roast beef dinner, which was pretty much the best roast meal I have had out, a huge Yorkshire pudding and great veg and potatoes, extremely tasty. My husband ordered the haddock, which he was very pleased with. I didn't have a pudding, other than a Baileys coffee, which was delightful and my husband ordered ice cream, for a simple dish it was very well presented. A thoroughly enjoyable couple of hours, followed by a visit to the train station to watch the steam train, what's not to love?

I’m genuinely surprised by some of the lower reviews—my experience was lovely. My room was spacious and offered a pleasant view of the garden area just beyond the parking lot. The hotel itself is full of character, housed in an older building with charming quirks like narrow staircases and creaky floorboards. There was a cozy fire crackling in the fireplace and inviting chairs perfect for reading or relaxing. My room was decorated in a traditional country inn style, and while the bed was simple, it was comfortable and sufficient for a restful night. I also dined at the hotel on two evenings and was thoroughly pleased. The Butternut Squash Risotto on the first night was delicious, and the second night’s selection of appetizers—including marinated olives and lentil soup—was equally satisfying. Both meals ended with outstanding desserts that perfectly capped off the evenings.

Avoid this place if you can. The staff was willingly trying hard but the place is understaffed. We had cobwebs in our room and the window glass was cracked making it difficult to open it. As there was no AC the room was very warm. The breakfast setting was inefficient. We had to make a long line for coffee. Stay away.

Clean rooms and good amenities. Lovely food. Service is an absolute shambles and the reception was always unstaffed apart from once. Appears to be run by a couple of helpful but inept students doing a summer job. No senior presence at all.

Came here when staying at the caravan park for dinner. Food was very average for the price, my mum ordered the scampi and we had onion rings for the table and both felt like they’d come from an Iceland freezer. The white wine arrived in an ice bucket but the wine itself was warm. The service was very slow. Overall the food is just not worth the high price.

Scozia on the radio,siamo stati ospiti al Boat country inn,anche se per una notte perché appunto eravamo itineranti ma siamo stati accolti bene dai ragazzi che lo gestiscono,gentilissimi anche perché la sera prima di arrivare abbiamo avuto un problema all auto e ci hanno soccorso e portati in hotel,e l indomani ci hanno aiutato al recupero dell'auto,ottima la colazione ed abbondante,infinitamente grazie..

The food was delicious. I had the salmon and my husband had the braised beef. Both were excellent. They were short staffed the evening we were there but the few employees taking care of everyone worked so hard to make sure we still had a great dinner. Highly recommend!
