We were so delighted to get here and what a beautiful place scenery and serenity. However, " our canyon view" room was a major disappointment!! We learned from the front desk clerk that it's not a " gorge view" room and none of these were available. We used our veterans discount for this room which is still not cheap and we got tucked away on 2nd floor next to a building and our corridor was a total of three rooms and felt like we were in a basement. See picture of " canyon view". But what was the worst was the mustiness and uncleanliness of room. There's so much dust in the filters. The lamp shade was moldy. Paint is peeling in bathroom and floor is dirty. We are stuck here for two nights and price is not cheap. Hope they don't treat all veterans this way. The coffeemaker doesn't work properly as well. Have to attend to it in order to get a full cup. What I can say is that this place was overpacked on Friday and the staff could not keep up with the volume. Kudos to the staff. We elected to forgo dinner as wait time was over a hour. If staying here you may want to consider a cottage and bring your own food. This room is very outdated. One can handle that but it's not good for anyone who has allergies and the mold starting is not healthy for anyone.

Based on the State Park alone, I would rate it 5 stars. There are so many activities to do right within the park, beautiful views and lots of wildlife to see. For anyone wondering, the sky lift was still not open as of June 2025. We stayed at the Lodge, and I would rank that a 3. We had a canyon view room with a great view. The room was a bit more rustic than I was expecting, and daily room service is not offered. However, the reason for the three stars is how dirty the common areas of the hotel are. The hallways look like a vacuum has been run down the center of the floor, but the sides haven’t been touched in weeks. The elevator doors look like they haven’t been cleaned in months. The food at the Bluestone restaurant was mediocre.

This place is absolutely beautiful, even in the "winter" months. We booked a gorge view room. It was a stop for us on a longer trip. West Virginia state parks are amazing. We got in later in the evening and were able to grab food at their Black Bear pizza place. Phil was the best! He was kind and helpful. We can't wait to book our future trip to Pipestem!

Nice WV state park- or resort. They have lots of activities like golf, tennis and more. I went to see the almost heaven swing they have on the property. It was a foggy morning and I didn't get to see the view but it was still a nice visit. The swing is at the end of the park road.

Great staff and location. The facility is due for a bit of maintenance. Restaurant staff were particularly outstanding and pleasant and food was good. View from The Lodge, and our balcony, was spectacular. Many activities, with something for nearly everyone.

Huge resort with lots of amenities. Room was convenient with courtyard that accommodates only three rooms. Perfect having a five year old. Has a splash pad available, very nice. Restaurant food was very good. Buffet had problem with warmer. Notified them and they were very attentive.

We went Pipestem State Park (lodge) on father’s day weekend with 2 year old and 4 year old. Most of all, hotel crews, rangers, restaurant workers, horse barn guys, park rangers were soooooo kind. You might think of course, we should receive these services, but these days i don’t see these quality services with big smiles and it really made our experience at this park more enjoyable! Thank you! What we did during the stay. 1) water splash park. After 2-6 pm we paid only two adults entering fee ($10 per person) and kids under 4 years old were free. 2) ate at Bluestone dining. From kids menu, grilled cheese sandwich, fries, drink, and a cookie $6.99. I ate Pipestem burger with all you can eat salad bar $12. 3) saw sun set from our bed. (Be sure to reserve gorge view room!) 4) pony ride. For the Real horse ride, kids have to be 7 or older. The stable guy lead the pony to go one round on the field only cost $5. 5) indoor swimming is free to the guests, and game room 6) nature center, gift ship, ice cream, playground, observatory hike etc and more

Disappointing stay in the lodge. We paid over $200 a night for a standard hotel room. Many activities at the park were closed, the food was mediocre, and there was no coffee available at the “coffee bar” in the lobby. I would not stay here again or recommend it until or unless they improve the experience.
