I would like to start with, - I wish I read the reviews first! Before booking and after booking I was made aware the hotel is small and the rooms are small, it did initially put me off as we travelled as a family of 5, (mum & dad & 3 children ages 17, 14 and 3, however due to its location and the fact it had a pool table we thought we would give it a try, however,. NO-ONE at any point informed us the triple bunk beds in the room they chose to put us were literally made for small kids, not 17 and 14 year olds that are fully grown. So as soon as we arrived at our room our daughters were less than impressed. The 17 (18 in sept) year old slept in the middle bunk and felt like she was in a cage. Our second issue was the cleanliness, the bedding and the towels looked clean but the room itself was very much not. The drawer tops, the windows & ledges, the tv and behind the mirror haven't seen a cloth in a long time. (I am a professional cleaner and I know what I'm talking about), it also didn't look like it had been hoovered in a bit either! We also were NOT told prior to booking that we have a curfew of 1am and if we planned to be out past that, it would cost us an extra £15 for a whole other key. They also charge £3 for the use of bedding. I think this was stated in the t&cs but I may have missed it however Connor sent a whole message after booking explaining this and that but failed to mention anything about either of the extra costs. We weren't to bothered as we weren't planning on being out past 1am and £3 was hardly going to break the bank, for the cleanliness it wasn't too much of an issue since the bedding and towels seemed clean enough the rest wasn't a problem as it was just a place to get our heads down and it was only for 2 nights, but due to our daughters property being stolen from our room I decided to let everyone else know. We arrived about 6pm on Saturday 5th July and went out for a wander. On the Sunday 6th July we headed out in the morning to do some activities and on the way back we bought some gifts and some things for our kids, including a labubu for the 14 year old, we then headed back to the hotel before heading out for dinner. When we got back to the hotel after dinner, our bin had been emptied but nothing else, no change or making of the beds, no new clean towels, only the bin had been touched and our daughters labubu stolen. We reported this to Connor to which he blamed the cleaner and that was that. He said he tried to call her but she must be sleeping. This morning during check out, absolutely nothing said about it. As for the cleaner, well, when we left for the day on Sunday it was Connors wife cleaning the lobby area, and today it was Connor with the hoover so I don't believe there is any cleaner there to be the thief, we believe Connor and/or his wife are the thief, if its not them it's very clear they continue to employ someone who has already stolen from the guests! Reading the previous reviews someone has said they had

I have nothing bad to say about this place. Great place, lovely diner, served food until 1am and it was really nice. Fully stocked bar and not overpriced. Staff very friendly. Can't comment on comfort of the beds etc as we didn't end up staying due to the event being cancelled but rooms looked clean and tidy.

Disappointing hotel, wouldn't stay here again. The pictures on line are nothing like the rooms you get. They weren't clean, daughters room had cigarette ash on the windowsill, lipstick stains on the bed, and carpet and hair in the bed. She slept on top of the covers and said she was bitten all night. The "double" beds are tiny and are old-fashioned metal frames, so make a noise every time you move. I could hear the people in the next room moving in their bed. The bathrooms are tiny and dirty, mouldy grout, cracked tiles, and just generally grubby. Hidden costs for everything, you have to pay for tea and coffee from a machine, pay extra for breakfast and the best one, if you want to stay out past 1am you have to pay £15 for a late key (per room) which I was only made aware of an hour before arrival. Staff come in during the day while you're out to empty the bins and leave the rooms unlocked for anyone to walk into. I've never been so glad to get home and have a shower (in a clean bathroom)!! People must have really low expectations for the good reviews this place has received.

Stayed here before; was cheap, cheerful and clean. This time, sorry to say the hotel needs a bit of attention. Really very basic stuff that could make a difference. Example: plug for sink. Cost about 75p. Replace missing shelf in bathroom. Cost about £5. Give the room a good clean. I would have thought that’s being paid for anyway, I would hope. Picture speaks a thousand words, so I’ll add some.
