Macdonald Drumossie Hotel

Room was cold, Shower didn't work, not child friendly and furniture was more professional that for a family with a toddler but food was good and staff friendly.

Stopped here for one night on a tour with Globus. Little disappointed that the hotel was so far away from the city (Inverness) but the accommodations were very nice. Rooms spacious bed was very good bathroom was very nice although it was cold in the room and the bathroom. Breakfast was just average and the wait was at least 15 minutes for a simple plate of scrambled eggs. The buffet was OK by European standards and deficient by American standards.

This was hands down favorite hotel that I booked for our entire trip! The room was super spacious, the bathroom had plenty of counter space, it had a nice sized shower with nice water pressure! We ate both dinner and breakfast (we opted for the additional charge for breakfast with our reservation) at their hotel restaurant and the food was great! We were really happy to see that they had pancakes on the menu. All of the staff were super friendly as well.

We travel a lot and spend a lot on our hotels! For the fee we paid its was very disappointing. Firstly we could hear the people in the room next to us, it was like the walls were paper thin! I understand it is an older establishment but there is NO excuse for us to be able to hear the conversations like they were standing in our room. They were talking at normal levels it is just the noise carried. Secondly the lock on the door is a push in lock. I understand it is luxury hotel classification but we travel with a lot of items of value leaving our room with a push lock is very concerning. Staff were very kind and breakfast was good. Also the key fob for the room is very antiquated it is a long 4” hard plastic unit you must take with you and place into wall to get power to your room

Having paid in excess of £800 for two nights I expected better service. It is impossible to get any hot room service after 7pm which is bizzare and late night arrivals or business travellers need to know this. The lounge menu and room service menu is the same thing. At 6:15 we went to the lounge and wanted something light for dinner but was told were we not allowed to order from the lounge menu at that time of night. However not quite being 7pm it meant we could still order a hot sandwich from room service. Couldn’t quite get my head around this. So they were still willing to make a hot sandwich, put it on a tray, carry it through the lounge where we were sitting, take it up two flights of stairs to our room, but not willing to deliver one to us in the lounge. Bizzare attitude from a very expensive hotel. Seems to be engineered to force everyone wanting any kind of hot food between 6pm and 7pm you have to be confined to room service and anything after that time it’s the restaurant only at the appropriate price. There is no movement on the rules. Hotel certainly lacking in going that “extra mile” for the prices being charged.

Room smelled bad, no bar, every meal required a reservation. Miles away from town, we left early for another hotel

Older, art deco hotel, worn. Large room, no A/C. Only 1 bar of soap, so no soap for shower. Bathroom door not hung straight, so kept closing. Had to prop open door. Bathroom did have a grab bar for shower, and flush handle for toilet, rather than push knobs (much preferred than push knobs that we found in other Scottish hotels). Dinner okay, but server needs to point out that if you order a sauce, you get 1 oz of sauce for 5 pounds. Way overpriced meals. Did complain about sauce price, and manager removed the cost. Proprietary plug for bedside lamps. Had to string an extension cord across the room for CPAP. Does provide USB plugs next to bed. Free water in room. No water pressure in shower.
