I was so happy that the Bestrahon entrance ticket was free when I used the Viking Cafe. They exchanged the entrance ticket for the number of people. The breakfast was also satisfactory... If the weather had been good, I would have seen the Aurora at the Aurora Mecca, but it was a shame.

The stay at the Viking Cafe was very pleasant. We arrived in the evening in drizzling rain. We were very happy about the kettle and tea and coffee. Nice hosts, delicious breakfast in a nice rustic atmosphere. The next day the sun was shining, the Vestrahorn mountain in front of the black dune beach was magical and beautiful. Unfortunately, the time to discover everything was far too short.

Best location for photo shooting in vestrahorn, great breakfast, clean room with kettle , ensuite bathroom. Walking distance for northern light point at night.

The hotel is in a great location. I encountered some minor problems after check-in, and the service staff was very enthusiastic and solved them in a timely manner.

Great place! Don't know why it has bad reviews?! Clean warm room with sea view, dried all our wet kit overnight. Even has USB sockets in restaurant. Lovely continental breakfast buffet included and hot chocolate. Friendly staff. Access to beach, filmset village and trails included. Views of this mountain are stunning.

My wife and I spent overnight here as the location is right next to the viewpoints for Vestrahorn, about 15 minutes past Hofn. We were checked in, and given QR code passes which open a gate to see Vestrahorn, and that worked well. What didn’t work well was the WiFi, as the signal was too weak to reach our room, which is a basic room in what seems like a manufactured housing building. Walls are metal and lots of nails in ceiling. The corridor and neighbors entering and exiting rooms and building are easily heard. That’s solvable for me as I carry ear plugs to wear at night for sleeping when hotel is noisy. What isn’t solvable, in fact unacceptable was the lack of WiFi in room. I would get network name on occasion, try to connect, and get back message “unable to connect”. Luckily, the WiFi works in the cafe and so I spent hours there to be on line. But cafe closes at 10 pm, so I lost ability to be on line after that. Food at cafe was just okay, as I had a decent chicken panini while sitting there with my iPad on the internet. The breakfast was acceptable to good, though, so I give the management props for that. But please fix the WiFi. FYI, we stayed in room 4, which is further away from cafe. Perhaps a room closer to cafe might have WiFi working in the room? Also, beware of the time to get there for check-in. I received a message that guests can only check in up to 8 pm. So it was on my mind all day as we came from Vik, and felt a bit rushed to see the glaciers and Diamond beach on the way. By all means, see Vestrahorn. It’s beautiful. But you can buy a pass at cafe to get to viewpoint and not stay there. Pick a better place in Hofn to stay.

We stayed here for one night in August. Although the room was small, which we knew anyway, it was clean and cosy and had some lovely little touches. We stayed here for the location and it was so worth it! It is a stunning place and the view from our window was amazing. We were able to walk on to the peninsula and the beach at any time of day, and we did. I’d recommend a 6am stroll! Entrance to the peninsula and Viking village was included in the stay. Breakfast was lovely and the staff were friendly and helpful. We’d definitely stay here again.

tl;dr: Rooms were very clean and tidy, and the cafe breakfast was delicious with all the essentials. We were also made a waffle when we arrived for breakfast. Our stay included the toll for driving to the cafe and to get past the toll gate to the beach. Bed - 4/5: Our room was very nice and had all the essentials, and was very quiet. It was disconnected from the cafe, and we arrived late, so they left a key for us in the door when we arrived. We got the mountain view room, but it was not a view of the Vestrahorn ):. Also it was just 2 twins pushed together as opposed to 1 queen. Breakfast - 4/5: All the standard essentials, in a super cute spread. The cafe itself had a really nice decor with its wooden architecture and open windows with the sun rays brightening the cafe. We were also made a waffle when we arrived to breakfast by the waitress, which was DELICIOUS!
