Hotel Parador de Canolich - Only Adults

A great experience - incredibly gracious hosts - very much like a B&B in the US - room was spacious, very clean, bathroom was beautiful - and the view is amazing. Breakfast is wonderful. 30ish minutes from the tram to Grandvalira in Encamp - where there is indoor parking and ticketing. A car is necessary - in March I had an AWD rental with the chain kit and I was glad I did - didn’t use the chains but it was only a few degrees away from needing them. There are also mountain hiking trails that run *right* past the hotel.

THIS PLACE IS STUNNING.... Hosts are lovely, lovely people. The location is utterly beautiful and majestic The room was spotless, high quality and fabulous views. Dinner was delicious, cooked on an open fire - excellent botifarra. Breakfast was fresh, plentiful and superb. We did not want to leave. We would give this place 6 stars if we could - just brilliant. Located high in the hills this hotel offers total silence, comfort and stunning views. It is owned and run by a husband and wife team who are extremely friendly, and do everything to ensure that your stay is a pleasant one. The rooms are spacious, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The showers are perhaps the most powerful you will ever encounter in any hotel. The restaurant, whilst basic offers superbly cooked fresh food and the meats are cooked to perfection on the indoor BBQ. Breakfast is a continental with the addition of eggs cooked to your choice. Despite being relatively isolated, the prices for drinks, food and the meals are all very reasonable. Parking is vast and safe. A note for motorcyclists, unless you are a very experienced rider you will find the road up a little testing. There are at least 16 very severe hairpins all with a camber in excess of 45° In a car, it’s often a 1st gear climb but the drive up is well worth it.
