Bishopstrow Hotel and Spa - Small Luxury Hotels of the World

This was my partner and I’s third stay at Bishopstrow and as always, we had a wonderful experience. We booked a spa day that included afternoon tea and one hour treatments, which were absolute bliss. The Elemis facial and shoulder and head massage I had were both excellent and my partner was equally impressed with his massage. The spa therapists are professional and knowledgeable, making sure our experience was highly relaxing. The hotel itself maintains a very high standard. The grounds are stunning, the rooms are beautiful and the staff are consistently welcoming and attentive. We are already looking forward to our potential next visit. I couldn’t recommend Bishopstrow more!

I think this is one of my favourite hotels. This was our third visit and everything was as amazing as before. We loved the new outdoor hot tub and sauna in the gardens. The staff are so friendly and welcoming and children are well catered for with the pools, games and meals. We will definitely be back!

We just came back from Bishopstrow for a birthday treat for my mum and sister. It is a stunning house and we stayed in the suite in the courtyard next to the spa, room was fabulous and clean, very comfortable bed, quite hard to leave in the morning! Spa was nice, hot tubs were great, only thing is both pool areas need some TLC, the indoor pool/jacuzzi I think needs a good clean and run over for loose tiles, rust on rails etc, and the outdoor pool has tiles peeling off and the smaller part of the pool needed some attention! Other than that the spa area is clean and beautiful and you just get on with it really, staff all over spa/restaurant were amazing! Breakfast was stunning, no other words for that. The grounds were beautiful aswell and so well looked after. We all said we'd come back! Thankyou

Second visit here – we came last year at about the same time, maybe a little earlier in the calendar. We took one of the hot tub rooms which were as comfy and big as last year. Slightly less well appointed than I remember – last year we had crisps / nuts / more drinks etc whereas this year it was just a couple of cold drinks in the fridge with tea and coffee facilities. These are clearly first world problems but overall I got the impression that the hotel was far busier than I remember from last year; pools, sun loungers, restaurant all fairly busy. Seemed like there were a few Hen party and large family guests. I also noticed that there had been a couple of public hot tubs installed on the grounds which obviously caters for the non hot tub rooms. I can’t comment on whether there is a concerted attempt to attract more or different people to the resort (which I of course completely understand from a revenue perspective) but it may come at a slight cost on the ‘exclusivity’ angle. Spa area is now looking a little ‘tired’ so perhaps could benefir from some investment here. That said, the two treatments I had were thoroughly enjoyable (thank you Linda) and the sauna / steam room also nice. So this is no way is a comment on the staff who I thought were very good. By tired I mean the entrance via the grounds via the indoor pool – just feels a little worn out compared to other similar establishments. I commented last year that service in the restaurant was a little ‘slow’. No such issue this year where it was all efficient and staff very pleasant. Although I think if you stayed beyond two nights you’d run the risk of findng the menu a little ‘samey’. Food was of good quality. One slightly negative comment I would make is that the outdoor music in on fairly loud until fairly late, so perhaps turning it down or off earlier might suit those guests that may want to rest / retire to sleep. The walled garden is worth a look as are the walks that are recommended via their app. Special mention to all the staff who were always polite and very pleasant.
