Lovely quirky hotel
We are local and only stayed as having work done on the house, so have eaten there many times. Pleasantly surprised how nice and well maintained the room was and very clean. Great atmosphere in the bar, and will recommend to our visitors and the staff were really lovely.

I saw a special offer for dinner, bed and breakfast, so booked a one night's stay for my husbands birthday. I must say we were pleasantly surprised by the value for money. Our lovely room was on the top floor, (room no 7), with views to the front of the hotel. It was a characterful room, with a walk in wardrobe and beams, everything was provided for. We had a nice table for dinner in the evening and the price included a 3 course menu. The service was attentive and the food delicious, breakfast was equally as good with plenty of choice. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel to others.

Another wonderful stay at this iconic hotel. At our request we stayed in the twin-bedded attic room with its beams, fabulous views and beautiful furnishing. Good breakfast and delicious dinner. Would rather not eat breakfast with other people's dogs - perhaps we could be asked whether we prefer to eat in the dining room, not the bar. Staff so friendly, helpful and courteous. Thoroughly recommended!

This is a lovely welcoming hotel in the centre of Bishops Castle. The rooms are a good size really well appointed, with modern bathrooms, despite this being a very old building. The real plus points here though are the welcome and the food. The staff couldn't do enough to be help and were all very chatty and cheerful. They make it feel like home. And the food is really, really good. Everything is obviously home cooked, portion sizes are big (they obviously. cater for a lot of walkers who have worked up a good appetite!) and there is a nice choice on their menu. It's also reasonably priced. The Breakfast menu had lots of lovely hot choices as well as a cold buffet. Everything is served in the cosy bar or the beautiful oak panelled dining room. Dogs are very welcome in the bar and get a free sausage at breakfast. My only minor niggle with the whole place was that the pillows and duvets could be newer and a bit fluffier, but that wouldn't stop me returning. well done Castle Hotel!

Just returned home after a two night stay with our dogs. We had the courtyard room which was excellent. The food was excellent and all the staff were very friendly and professional. We hope to return in the future and shall recommend to our friends

Some classic touches and a pleasure to stay in this amazing building. They left extra milk, coffees, and so on, so you didn't need to ask, and there were plenty of reading materials. The guest terrace is a nice touch, and the garden area is extensive. I'm honestly disappointed I didn't stay longer! My one issue would be the kettle in room 1. For the price and quality, there was unfortunately a lot of timescale and floaters in the kettle, so much so I took a photo.

This is a great base for hiking and walking enthusiasts - particularly those with dogs, staff are very friendly and helpful and rooms are are very comfortable - we had Room 2 on the Ist Floor with lovely views and very comfortable. The food - an essential ingredient for any hiking trip - was very disappointing - often over cooked or flooded/swimming with too much sauce. Breakfast buffet was very nice but the cooked egg options were poor - how difficult is it to make scrambled eggs or omelettes to set you off for a mornings hike. Possibly pre-cooked or flooded in something not required Lunchtime sandwiches made from ultra-processed bread did not help Wine and beers fortunately all very good ! Given the price point and the recent awards we would have expected the food offering to be much better and certainly you can find this at other locations. (Peak District - Losehill House) Overall average to good but could have been so much better if food was better !

Our third walking weekend stay here in recent years and the hotel never disappoints - though this time we had the added benefit of beautiful spring sunshine, so we could appreciated the location and garden even more. A very comfortable and attractive room with everything we needed. Great food, with impressive staff and service throughout the hotel.
