We stayed overnight and, having booked directly through the Hotel, received a complimentary upgrade to a suite. The room had been recently and tastefully refurbished to a high standard; it was extremely comfortable, with beautiful views over the surrounding countryside. Although it was midweek and during a cold snap, the Hotel was still quite busy serving dinners. Each of the bars had cosy fires lit, serving a selection of cask ales and surprisingly good food. (The mixed game suet starter was a delight.) Breakfast was also top notch . Without exception, the staff were friendly, efficient and well trained. Well done!

We had a lovely two night stay in November at the Castle Hotel! A beautiful old "creaky and twisty" coaching house that really makes you feel as 'though you have just stepped from a horse drawn coach or just pulled up on your 1920's road trip, just like in the movies! After all it's 300 years, it has been sympathetically modernised and retains much of the character from it's early years and is kept spotlessly clean! The room was cosy and warm. The only things I would improve on is levelling the bedside tables with wedges and a couple more lamps for mood lighting. All the staff were warm and welcoming and happy to help with anything. A really nice touch was that you could help yourself to chilled water or milk from a fridge on the landing. Breakfast was splendid (apart from the pancakes being too thick for the Mrs) with a good range to choose from. We had a delicious evening meal, again there was a great choice of dishes. Bishops Castle is a lovely village to visit and a great base for exploring surrounding Shropshire and I don't think we will find anywhere better to stay than the Castle Hotel! We will return!

Lovely sized room , very comfy bed (room number 1) We added on the option of the three course meal and breakfast which was amazing. The food was lovely. Staff were all polite and welcoming. Did a few walks on the Saturday and Sunday. The only thing we would make aware of is the constant banging of a kitchen door below room 1. Every time the door slammed the whole room reverberates Would stay again.

Great quirky place to stay, staff are excellent and attentive. I would have given 5 stars only the toilet leaked and the shower was faulty. But the rest of it more than made up for those minor things. If you like ales, this is a well kept cellermanship. Walks locally are brilliant and the hotel gets full marks for their enthusiastic info on them.

Great food served in a lovely environment with brilliant views. Went for a Sunday lunch, it was excellent, I couldn’t finish it and I have a healthy appetite. We will be going back to explore the area, stay in the hotel and eat more of there food.

Beautiful room, lovely ambiance in the hotel and the food was gorgeous! The breakfast was fantastic and the hotel gardens were scenic. We wouldn’t hesitate to come back, reasonably priced, thank you for a lovely stay we can’t wait to return.

We had an excellent night's stay, with a good dinner and good bed in a well appointed room with plenty of space. It is a comfortable old hotel with friendly and helpful staff, and has modern facilities while keeping a charming old world atmosphere. Dinner was served in a cosy dining room, one of three, I think - it was well presented - there was obviously an able chef in charge. Breakfast likewise was very good, with a lot of choice.
