A very enjoyable and comfortable stay at the Castle Hotel. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming, with nothing a problem to deal with. We had a very comfortable room with everything we needed and an excellent breakfast with good food, well prepared. We also had an evening meal which was a delight - we were joined by two friends for our meal and we had a variety of dishes all of which hit the right spot.

A delightful 2-night stay last week for my wife’s birthday. We were welcomed by Stacey on reception who couldn’t have been more helpful. What a warm, cosy and friendly hotel and nothing was any trouble to the staff who always greeted us with a smile. We received an upgrade to stay in the cottage at the bottom of the driveway - coziness of the highest order. We had a small problem with the room heating which was attended to immediately when Henry came to our rescue. The cottage was spotless with all the appliances anyone would need and the bed was so comfortable; best 2 nights sleep we’d had in ages. The hotel itself has an “olde worlde” ambiance and the crackling log fires in the dining and bar areas were just what we wanted. The food was excellent with an extensive menu to choose from - something for everyone. Same at breakfast time but we don’t do full English so again a great choice from porridge/cereal/toast/yoghurt and fruit - fill your boots! We will return and many thanks to all at The Castle Hotel for a most enjoyable stay.

The room we stayed in was beautiful, and super cozily warm, even on a miserable February day, with a huge very comfortable bed, gorgeous roll top bath (as well as a separate shower) and a lovely view over the town and hills. The food in the evening and at breakfast was also delicious (the chicken pie in particular was a stand-out), and the staff couldn’t have been more polite and welcoming - a fantastic stay, thank you!

This is the second time we’ve been to the hotel. It was nice to be back and was a fantastic stay. We had the Courtyard room which was beautiful and the dogs loved it too. Beautiful bathroom. Great to be able to sit outside knowing the dogs are safe in the private courtyard. The food was wonderful and the staff go above and beyond. Great little hotel. Looking forward to going back again. Thanks for a great stay.

Subject: Overnight stay at The Castle Hotel, Bishops Castle. The Castle Hotel, Bishops Castle. In the Shropshire Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty close to the Welsh Border - The Marches. One of our favourite escapes for a short stay, especially when there are such tempting offers at The Castle Hotel. It has a fabulous location perched high up overlooking the town surrounded by the Shropshire Hills. We stayed overnight in Room 3 on the first floor, a large welcoming, comfortable room with a huge bed and a feature roll top bath for a touch of indulgent bathing. There is also an en-suite shower room, so no excuses for being late for dinner. We have stayed in several rooms at The Castle Hotel and we agreed this is the room we will try to get on future visits. The two bars are warm and inviting with a good range of local beers and spirits and open fires with the possibility of informal dining although the more intimate wooden panelled restaurant is delightful. We especially like the new garden room at the far end of the lounge with access to the newer terracing with a variety of covered accommodation in the garden. The well trained, friendly, efficient staff are most welcoming and can take of most request. The food is excellent, be it breakfast, lunch, dinner or any time snacks. Professional chefs with a good choice of delicious recipes. Thoroughly enjoyed our overnight stay, looking forward to our next escape. Eddie and June Watkins

Another lovely stay at The Castle Hotel. We were lucky to have our room upgraded and it was very comfortable. Even though it was the last day before they were closing for the post Christmas period we were made to feel welcome and not at all rushed. The food was delicious both at dinner in the pub and for breakfast.

Made to feel like a King at the Castle A very enjoyable stay at the Castle Hotel, the food was of a high quality , the rooms to a good standard with an exceptionally comfortable bed. The staff were fantastic and really made us feel welcome. Bishop’s Castle is a very picturesque town but there are few shops of note if you are looking to go antique or curiosity shopping , primarily this is a good base to explore the surrounding area which has some of my favourite places to visit in England .

Nice but cold! This was my second stay at this hotel whilst on business with a colleague. The location is great, food was very nice and general service was good - I stayed in room 9 (colleague in room 12) and whilst I appreciate that it was cold/snowing outside the bedroom was very cold. I am a hot sleeper so this is never usually an issue but after trying to turn the radiators on full I ended up resorting to warming the room with the hair dryer! At breakfast my colleague had the same issue and put extra layers on to sleep. I mentioned this at reception during checkout and was told that they think something may have tripped and apologised. Unfortunately, I would find it difficult to book again following this experience.
