Stayed for two nights whilst walking in Shropshire. Comfortable room, great selection of beers on tap, wonderful food and amazing service from the staff. The chicken and chorizo pie was excellent, as was the sea bream. The hotel garden is a great place to enjoy a pre-dinner drink, and it’s easy to see why the hotel is so popular with residents and visitors alike. Particular thanks to Hannah for making us so welcome. Highly recommended and we will definitely return.

I stayed here last week with my mother for 1 night and we had an incredible stay. We were in room 11 which was lovely, plenty of space, clean, tidy and the view was amazing! Bex the owner was brilliant and she went above and beyond for us when we asked if there was anywhere we could get a bouquet of flowers for a family member that we were in the area visiting. We had dinner in the evening, we both had the burger which was delicious, the breakfast the next morning was lovely, plenty to choose from. All of the staff were incredibly polite and friendly. The hotel itself is beautiful especially the garden (it may have helped that we had incredible weather during our stay). We couldn’t recommend this hotel enough! We will definitely be back. Thank you again to Bex and all the staff!

I spent a week at The Castle Hotel with a group of cycling friends from Cumbria. The welcome was friendly, the rooms were clean and comfortable and we had great views from our window. Breakfast options and the evening meals were varied and tasty with plenty to eat. Staff were friendly and attentive; their teamwork helped everything go smoothly. Our group of 13 in the hotel was joined by several other friends in the evenings; our meals and evenings together were enjoyable. Weather was hot and dry and we enjoyed time in the gardens. Overall I hope I can return in the future. Oh, and cycling in Shropshire gave us varied rides and very good coffee stops, covering about 200 miles during our stay.

A real pleasure to stay at The Castle Hotel in quiet Shropshire! Excellent engaging hosts, first class professional friendly helpful staff, comfortable rooms, lovely garden area, and the food and wine were splendid. Highly recommended. Nearby Ludlow is also well worth a visit. We have been before to The Castle Hotel and will return again! Mike H

We stayed at the Castle Hotel for three nights and would really recommend it. The staff were very friendly; rooms clean and comfortable and food was extremely good indeed (both breakfasts and dinners) with plenty to choose from. The gardens at the hotel are great to sit in on a warm summers evening Not the hotels fault, but we really should point out there is a lovely clock in the town which chimes at all times of day and night. If this is something you are sensitive to, definitely consider earplugs at night. Closing the window may have helped but needed it open to keep cool from all this lovely weather.

Although we've visited Bishps Castle many times over the years, we'd never been to the Castle Hotel. We've had lunch there 3 times in the past week! Each time, we've sat in the garden enjoying the views over the town to the hills beyond, watching red kites, jackdaws and swallows overhead. The food was excellent. I'm vegan and had the sweet potato lentil shepherd's pie once. It was very tasty but there weren't many lentils and the accompanying green beans were almost raw. The other 2 days I had a delicious Malaysian vegetable curry. My partner had the bacon, Brie and cranberry toastie twice and a tuna cheese melt one day. And said both were very good.

Lovely relaxing weekend. We stayed in the Elephant house and really appreciated its own little garden with its outside table and chairs. Very comfortable bed with beautiful view of the roof tops and hills to enjoy in the mornings. We had some difficulties getting BBC1 on TV and it said on the screen there were connection issues (?) which we reported, but this maybe IT issue and we didn’t want to fiddle and it did not detract from a wonderful stay. The Elephant House has its own dedicated parking just outside the door and this, for us, is an added bonus for to book the Elephant House as my husband is waiting for knee operation and the car park can get very full. We ate in the restaurant and the food was excellent. The staff here are so lovely and make you feel very welcome. Highly recommended and we will be back!

We were stopping in the lovely village for one night. We've been here before, but not for many years. Although we didn't stay at the Castle Hotel we wished we had, as the dining experience was first class. The food was superb, the restaurant beautiful and the service second to none. It was the last night of our trip, and we were pleased to finish in such great style. All three courses for both of us were better than expected bearing in mind the reasonable price, and presented with some style. Kudos to the chef!
