The only redeeming part of this stay was the polite staff. The AC was broken and would not get below 73, the bathroom was covered in hair trimmings, the outlets were bulging out of the wall (looked like water damage), and the light switches did not work.

This was one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had. I booked on the Marriot Bonvoy app. I have an email confirmation with the total price and they charged me a rate that ended up being over $200 more for the stay. I asked the hotel manger, Felicia, to explain the discrepancy. First she said it a $4 bottle of water. I asked how a $4 bottle of water can explain a $200 difference. Then she said it was the security hold which made no sense. This was the final bill. Then she tried to convince me it was the taxes, which also didn't add up. I looked into it further and found the difference. At the bottom of the bonvoy confirmation email, the rate per night is $139 and they charged me $179. Maybe the guy, Will, that checked me in messed it up and I should have noticed. But what really has irritated me is the manager's dismissiveness and obstinance. At one point she insisted there was nothing she could do and there was no one else I could talk to. She eventually said she had to pull some reports and would call me back Monday. I am skeptical that I will ever get a refund even though it's clearly documented they made a mistake. Also the AC got stuck on full blast, it ruined my first night of sleep and I got sick.

WARNING STAY AWAY! Parking is very, very expensive. Website shows valet but it doesn’t say mandatory, valet is normally optional. They billed me almost $95 for 2 nights when I was only staying 1. They did change to 1 night… still a rip off. If they had told me in advance I would have chosen another property, twice I expressed not liking valet for my vehicle. My fault I was sooo tired with not sleeping the past 30 hours, I thought it would be a reasonable price since Marriott has always treated me well in the past. Breakfast is subpar, offers what all Marriott properties do. Curtains are sheer and when I pulled the gold curtain it stoped halfway, I was informed this morning there is a curtain behind curtain.. I did not see it so my room was lit up all night by bright street lights. Bed was uncomfortable. A VERY loud noise outside my window woke me, it was a black sedan with exposed mufflers racing up and down the street. Another review stated the same thing, must be a consistent issue. After several minutes I looked out the window and saw 2 police cars and it became a little quieter. I do not believe you will enjoy staying at this property. There was only one positive thing, the hotel valet was very courteous, kind and helpful.

Room was cozy… Valet was very accommodating… I enjoy most of my stay except for the overnight front desk attendant who checked me in. This was my second time staying and her attitude was just as bad if not worse than the last time I stayed. She was very rude and unenthusiastic. Has a nasty demeanor. Definitely should not work for a Marriott hotel. She would fit in better at a Motel 6. I am a loyal Marriott guest and worker. I have been in management positions as well as front desk and have never seen such behavior. Absolutely unacceptable and will likely run off guests in the future.

STOP! Stay right here. Don't look any further! Hotel was in a good location, room was clean and modern, and the staff was like family. I felt safe! Parking is mainly valet unless you want to park on the street but I'll pay the price for all of the other things this hotel has to offer. The only thing that was lacking was fresh fruit on the breakfast bar but I'm willing to overlook that. This will be the only place I stay from now on within an hour drive from Birmingham.

The fridge was not even plugged in. We had to pull it away from the wall ourselves to do that. The “high floor city view” that we paid more for is a view of the parking garage and. Building across street Only half a roll of tp in the entire room. WiFi NEVER WORKED the light next to bed did not work because it is unplugged from a panel located behind the wall. This prevents us from simply plugging it in. There are no outlets accessible for guests beside the bed to charge phones. Which means you plug your phone in on the other side of the room. Huge in inconvenience when you want a clock beside the bed. The clock in the room does not work. No sitting area at all!!! An office chair at desk located under the tv is it Talked to the front desk. They said they would send someone up With tp and fix the bed lamp. To arrived after awhile. Lamp not fixed. This is certainly not what we expected t as a Bonvoy member. We will NOT stay here again.

The location was very good, close to restaurants and entertainment. The valet service was exceptional, simple to request our car and was ready when we got downstairs every time. There was a problem with my reservation caused by the person who made my reservation telling me I could have adjoining 2 queen rooms which they don’t actually have. However, John Boles worked hard to get us as close together as possible. Later, we realized that one of the rooms ac and the TV weren’t working but again the maintenance person came to the room with a key for another room immediately and gave it to my family as soon as he determined that the issues couldn’t be solved quickly. One of the things that I view positively is how are any issues resolved and I felt that they did a very good job with it. I would stay here again and recommend it. I especially appreciate John Boles work to resolve the issues.

Our room was clean, bed was comfortable, staff was friendly, and the free breakfast was fine. So 5 stars for all that. However, the parking situation SUCKS. There is no where to park your car yourself except on the street - no thanks! So your only choice is to pay $40/day for valet. And depending on what day of the week you're there, you may have an issue getting your car back/parked if it's during off hours. But my main issue with this place is the NOISE. We were on the 3rd floor facing the street and it was AWFUL. Some motorcycles were racing in the middle of the night and someone else's car alarm went off for 10 minutes and the windows provided NO insulation against the sound. If you are anything but an extremely heavy sleeper, you may find yourself experiencing the worst sleep of your trip. Ask for a room not facing the street, or sleep somewhere else.

This was a strange one for us! Located downtown, so walking distance to a lot of great restaurants. They have a valet so you don't have to worry about parking but it's not cheap. Lobby was super beautiful and wraps around (so it's on either side of you when you enter). Check in was fast and easy, and we immediately went up to our three rooms. I had room #613 and there was a burning plastic electrical smell in there that never went away. We figured it just needed to be aired out so we left the door open and ran the A/C on high to flush it out. Suspect is the electrical wires in a light fixture just when you enter the room. No housekeeping here, nothing, nada. Not even fresh towels. We had to call to ask why the beds weren't made or refreshed, and they simply answered that they didn't have enough staff to do this. Someone did come upstairs with fresh towels and took away the bathroom garbage but it made me question if this is an Alabama thing as it was the second place we stayed at with no housekeeping. Breakfast was in the back of the hotel and it was a beautiful room. I wasn't happy with the selection to choose from (no pastries/bread, meat wasn't recognizable, eggs looked dry). I stuck with the cereal and coffee (which thankfully was strong and good!). I would love to see some fresh fruit there. Overall it's a beautiful hotel, just disappointed with the lack of housekeeping.
