Ashleigh & Lily served us in the restaurant and couldn't have been more attentive, cheerful and helpful. Their attentiveness is a credit to this hotel.

There is a large well maintained carpark. With three Disabled spaces which are not very well marked. Other than that I had no issues. Has a disabled person it was nice to see that the entrance to the hotel is via a ramp, with a smooth surface. The Reception. The ladies on duty were very friendly and helpful. Nice to be greeted with a smile. Made me feel welcome. A lovely experience. The rooms were very well maintained including the bathroom. We found our room very relaxing and comfortable. There’s a flat screen TV and tea and coffee making facilities. My room was as requested on the ground floor. There were no stairs for me to negotiate although further along the corridor there is three steps. The restaurant is large with access via a ramp. The waitresses are very friendly and helpful. They have a good knowledge of the menu. The menu is typical Green King hotel menu. Good portions and well presented. All the food we order was hot. There is a comprehensive selection of Beers and Spirits and Wine. The adjoining bar has a large selection of beers and spirits. . The restaurant supplies a take away packed lunch currently costing £10 which we believe is good value. I would like to praise all the staff and management for making our stay really enjoyable. We will certainly be back and recommend the Royal George

Stayed for a family wedding nearby with our three grown up children. Joanne was very accommodating sorting out our requests for a twin room instead of a double and an extra bed in one room. Rooms were slightly tired, but bed was very comfortable and more than made up for by the cheery and helpful staff.

Large room, clean, cute wallpaper and picture. A delicious breakfast with lots of choices and the hot full English breakfast was enormous. Everything we needed for our stay. Quiet room, helpful staff, fun to be staying in an English pub for a night.

It was ok, yes its a little bit tired in places but its a perfectly serviceable pub-hotel. It adequately met our needs as a place to eat and sleep whilst on the way to somewhere else. The reasons for only giving it an average rating are mainly based on two things: 1. None of the staff seemed particularly happy. I initially put this down to a bad night on Friday as they seemed a little under-staffed at the bar, but it was the same in the morning at breakfast. Nobody was rude or anything, just got the impression that they didn’t really want to be there. 2. Late start for breakfast. Might have been later than usual as it was a weekend, but 8am when you’re an early-riser and have somewhere to be is a bit frustrating. Especially when you can’t even get a coffee until breakfast is served. (There is instant coffee in the room to be fair) Ending with positives, the breakfast was worth the wait and I would consider staying here again if the need arises.

Came in for a meal on Sunday 6th July around 17.30. Nice relaxed atmosphere in the bar. My wife and myself ordered the Sunday roast, i had beef, my wife had turkey and our son had the fish & chips, we all enjoyed the food, its great to see the bar has OO Estrella on tap, will certainly will be back again.

Noisy busy road at front of property so unable to sleep and incredibly hot. I did mention this upon allocation but they didn't offer any alternative said it would quiten down later. It didn't the noise was all night.. The food we had was terrible and had to return but alternative dish was also bad. So we just didn't eat there again. This was really inconvenient as had to drive to next town for food. Also their grill was broken the whole time we were there which meant limited choices anyway. Maybe this was just a bad weekend we chose.. On a positive note the staff were lovely in the bar and the room was clean . It's a lovely old building but very disappointed with our stay.
