The room is good, the climbing site is good, and the food is ok. Next time you have a chance, try the camping area. It is quiet and there are few people. The entire hotel park is suitable for family outings.

Not my first time here- a great place for celebrating special occasions! Food and service is out of this world, lots of beautiful hiking trails, including the .3mi hike to the restaurant (if you don't want a ride). For a really unique experience sign up for the Falconry class!

Our first time staying at the property for my wife’s birthday few days ago, what an amazing place and experience. All the staffs are very friendly and welcoming, love the amenities and the food. We are already planning the next stay for our wedding anniversary. You won’t be disappointed.

The Alila Ventana Big Sur is a very special place. The staff provides friendly and impeccable service. We felt so taken care of while we were there. We thoroughly enjoyed the record player in the room as well as the cozy fireplace. In addition, the location and views are stunning, no matter which direction you look. We were upgraded to a hot tub room, so having our own private Jacuzzi on the balcony was amazing, especially since it was cold and rainy the first two days we were there. We also enjoyed the infinity hot tub that faced the redwoods and the Japanese hot tub, especially at night for stargazing while soaking. We took advantage of the sauna, too. The rooms had thick cozy robes and fluffy bath towels. The beds were incredibly comfortable; we slept great. This is definitely one of those choose-your-own adventure properties. You can be very active by going on hikes, swimming, working out at the gym, taking art classes, etc., or you can just curl up with a book in a hammock, by the pool or on the balcony of your room. All meals are included with the price of the room. The only additional charges are for alcoholic beverages and tipping on those. Otherwise, everything is included, including tips for the valet, bellhops, restaurant servers, etc. They also offer many free activities, which we enjoyed, as well as some that incur an additional fee. We did not do any of the paid activities, but some folks that we met during our visit did and said they enjoyed them immensely (e.g., axe throwing). I highly recommend this place, especially if you have a stash of Hyatt points and can book that way. It’s totally worth using your points for a stay here, especially if you are celebrating a special occasion.

Incredible Stay at Alila Ventana – Adults-Only Bliss! Absolutely amazing experience from start to finish. The Alila Ventana Resort is a true gem—peaceful, luxurious, and thoughtfully curated in every way. Loved that it’s all-inclusive and adults-only—such a relaxing vibe without kids around. The service was top-notch across the board. Staff were friendly, attentive, and went out of their way to make everything perfect. Both the drink and food menus were exceptional—every meal and cocktail was beautifully done and delicious. Just a heads-up: the hotel places a $500 incidental hold at check-in, so keep that in mind when planning. Other than that, truly nothing but praise. Can’t wait to go back!

As someone who has worked in different areas of the service industry including hospitality and food and beverage, I must say Alila Ventana Big Sur outdid themselves. From the moment we checked in, to our spa experience, and our dining experiences. It was all just incredible. The staff was amazing! We were there celebrating some quality time before I deliver our baby and I couldn’t have chosen a better place. Thank you so much for making it a core memory for my husband and I.

You will be pampered by the high level of service and detail at Ventana. This is a stunning resort celebrating the bohemian history of Big Sur. We loved the pools and activities and the short walk to Sur House for meals. Kind of like a luxury summer camp for adults. I see other people on here complaining about the clothing optional spa/ pool and rustics rooms but we weren’t bothered. People need to understand the historical context and culture of this area and respect the locals .
