I stayed here to attend my best friend's wedding. She had planned all of her family and friends to stay at this place. The wedding and reception was in the outdoor common spaces - which was nice. My cabin (named Hidden Creek) on the other hand was a complete dumpster fire. I admit I am a very clean and organized guy, and I knew renting a cabin at Big Bear - the cabin might not be as clean as a nice hotel so I went in lowering my standards on clean, but this cabin was just disgusting. All three sofas in the cabin had dark stains on them, the sofa cushions and fabrics were sewn on so most likely these stains have been building for YEARS. There were stains on all of the walls in every single room. It smelled like cigarette smoke. And the tub in the bathroom (included pic) gives you an idea of how disgustingly dirty it was. I was there for only a short two days so I decided not to take a shower cause it was disgusting in there. Honestly, if it wasn't my best friend's wedding - I would've made a bigger stink of it and complained to the staff (like I should have). But I didn't want to hurt my best friend and give off the wrong vibes for the weekend. On top of everything, the "resort," charges a "cleaning fee," ($50) on top of the room rates. *** do they clean??! LOL.

Oh, my this my cabin was Filthy! I slept on my towels so my body didn't touch the bed. Stains on the comforter and pillows and it smelled like smoke! The pillows were gross! Stained and smelled like b.o.. The kitchen was nice, the fireplace was great, and jet tub was good, but if the room is dirty, the couch is as gross as the bed, it's hard to think of the positive. I asked to have my room cleaned again but they insisted it was clean.. Ieft 2 days early!

Simply put: the owner does not care. He’s never there. The front desk chick is nice but can’t do much without the owner’s approval and he’s impossible to get ahold of. At first I was told I could get a refund due to a last minute surgery a week before my booking. Then awhile later I was told I couldn’t get a refund and was told I could apply the credit (like $900+ or something) toward another booking. I’ve tried numerous times to rebook but either phone calls or emails go unanswered. This is a really crappy way to run a business and the other reviews show the lack of care or concern from the owner. I have bad asthma/allergies and given the filth maybe it’s for the best I can’t stay there. I’ll go another route to get my money back that I was initially promised in writing.

No one is ever at the reception desk. We stayed at the rustic rose cabin and it was beyond filthy. The porch was dirty, the entire cabin's floor was filthy and the shower floor was disgusting. My kids went to bed on their own, but when we went to bed we noticed the bed spread, sheets and pillow cases were dirty with paw prints on it, stained with animal and human hair and dry dirt on it. We had to use the towels to catch up some sleep after we called and texted and never heard back from the staff. Underneath the sofa cushions were all kinds of debris. Baseboards were super dirty. Next morning I had to call several times to get clean linens that were stained as well and I had to change the bedding myself. The maid was a 17 year old girl that used the same broom from the floor to sweep the trash from the sofa and she threw everything just outside the porch. Save your money and never book this place, because they didn't offer to refund the cleaning fee or even a discount

This cannot be called a resort. It is more like a motel with old, rundown cottages. I will say the cottages are a decent size. Kitchen, family room with good size, TV, bathroom, and two bedrooms. But they say they have Wi-Fi but it hardly works. When I mentioned it to them, they said yeah it doesn’t work well when they have lots of guests. Apparently they don’t think about getting a better Internet plan to fix that issue. Definitely do not plan on watching streaming television with their crappy Wi-Fi. The other problem is that there is a lot of snow and they don’t clear enough so it’s easy to get your car scratched up on the snow banks. It’s hard to drive around the property. Finally, they charge a $75 cleaning fee. I’ve not had hotels charged cleaning fees on top of their $40 resort fee for which you get nothing. Maybe if it were an Airbnb that would make sense. But when we got into our cottage, it wasn’t even that clean. There was an empty bottle and trash on the floor in one of the bedrooms. I would definitely not stay at this place again.

The cabins we stayed are reasonably priced, clean and spacious. Staff is friendly and accommodating. The campground is great for kids to do snow play. They also have an indoor and outdoor pool, but we didn’t use these on our stay. The cabins are a little bit outdated, but well-kept.

Was so cute and beautifully maintained. Loved it and it had some very nice amenities. Games, fire pit, wedding area, waterfall, etc...They had very convenient virtual check in and is pet friendly. The cabin was clean and ready and the staff was very accommodating. Definitely recommend and will go again. Was very happy with our stay.

Old food in the cupboards and microwave, greasy floor. No paper towels or kitchen towels. Floor hadn’t been cleaned and was slippery from the grease. Why pay a cleaning fee when it isn’t clean? Was there as part of a weekend retreat. When we booked the place the previous owners kept things up, but the new owners don’t seem to care about clean or even minimal cleaning!

I thought I had stayed here a long time ago....we had not. Nevertheless looking for a cabin, not air bnb, and found this. I wouldn't come back unless I toured the particular cabin in person in the future. I hardly ever give bad reviews but want to save people some hassle. Pros: well heated in winter; good amount of space; kitchen worked; newer appliances; adequate supply of cookware, dishes, etc; decent mattresses and clean sheets and towels. Somewhat cute grounds and we were back from the street. Cons: Serious musty/mildew odor. Like there was water damage but we didn't see it. An outer door (seemed to be storage) was completely thrashed with water damage so maybe it was coming from there. Were we not so beat from our trip would have moved. It made all our clothes smell. And the cleaning was substandard. Grunge on floor around stove, in bathroom around the sink, lint/stuff on soap dishes, stove and oven dirty. Tables sticky. And on top of that you pay a $75 cleaning fee in advance. Granted as I walked in, we were told the housekeeper just quit and the owner was doing the cleaning. Also no deadbolt on front door. Bed room wall heaters seemed tied to the front room wall heater thermostat. That front room was a little drafty (no seal around front door...you could see daylight) therefore if you closed the bedroom doors the bedrooms got up to like 80F. Couches in front room beat....no way could you sleep on them as you hurt yourself sitting on them (the frame stuck up between the sunken down parts.) Lastly the plowing was marginal. Very narrow access or not plowed. If you had a big vehicle, hard to fit through, especially if others didn't park straight due to the snow. I've been all over. Stayed in plenty of Motel 6s, plenty of 60s-70s era cabins (like this) as well as nicer places. Just the smell and the dirt was a turnoff and laughable with the $40 "resort fee" that paid for your "free" wifi (which did not work on the SMART TV.)...we had to use our phone hot spot. With the $75 "cleaning fee" it approached $600 for two night stay. Also for a ski town, near LA where most people can't drive in the snow anyway, for goodness sakes get a snowblower or something and clean the roads. California banned road salt (you can use pumice) but no need to leave slip and parking chaos for guests more than two weeks after the last snow. Office was spotty on hours and answering the phone. I really don't trust AirBNB for many reasons and am used to rental places. If any of the other cabins have these issues honestly I'd would be better to do a full redo of a few than rent these out in this condition. I understand Covid and business (and getting help) is crazy but this was pretty darn bad, especially considering the pretty decent reviews here on TripAdvisor. I hope things improve for this place.
