Hotel Marina Riviera

love this place soooooo much! such a beautiful view from our room!

We stayed at Marina Riviera for two nights. Mixed feelings about the hotel, but I think it has a great potential. LOCATION - 5 points. Won't add anything new compared to what has already been said. ROOMS - 3 points. Pretty small, not enough room for personal items, fireplace is not necessary, a small table or some storage unit would be more beneficial. One huge uncomfortable chair in the balcony is ridiculous. Two small chairs with a small table would make more sense. No coffee maker in the room was a big deal for me. It is the first hotel ever without one in the room. Lobby opens at 7 am where a bad drip coffee is available. It's only 42 rooms in the hotel, why not to have espresso coffee makers in the rooms! Or have a good coffee machine in the lobby which should be open at 6 am. Oh, and avoid rooms with the higher number, e.g. 314, 214. You will have a parking lot view. Plus you will alway hear when someone is exiting the side gate. And you won't be able to keep your balcony doors open as there is always activity in that parking lot. These rooms should be discounted, but you still pay the full premium price. The beds are very comfortable. Air conditioning works fine. Bathroom is small, but it's fine. Towels too harsh for me. LAYOUT - 4 points. The second floor is at the parking lot level. Probably the most convenient. No elevator to the third floor. But it has the best views. Not sure how to get to the first floor rooms. There is an elevator going down. Maybe it takes to the rooms on the first floor, which have direct access to the lawn, but no privacy. SERVICE - 3 points. Much more to be desired. Receptionist was on the phone for several minutes when we came to check in before placing the caller on hold and helping us. No information was provided at all. Just received the keys and that's it. I tried contacting the hotel prior to the trip. No response to the email. And no one ever picked up the phone. RESTAURANT - 3 points. Great potential to become one of the most visited restaurants in the area. Beautiful views, nice seating options, convenient parking. Menu is very limited (less one point). What takes away another point is that you have to place an order at the window and then wait to be seated. Seriously? If I come to a restaurant, I want to be seated and served. I do not want to wait in line for 15 minutes to place an order. And then wait again to be seated. Extremely strange set up. AMENITIES - 4 points. You pay amenities fees and get the following: Blink electric car charging stations (Tesla owners must have adaptors); the use of two saunas and pool, bicycles. Maybe something else that I was not aware of. Would I recommend this hotel? Yes, sure. I think it's one of the nicer options in Big Bear, let's hope it will get better with time.
