I recently stayed at the Holiday Grand Resort Bhurban for two days, paying 48,720 PKR via online transfer as requested to ensure a smooth check-in during the high season. The owner had assured me that the remaining amount would be refunded. However, upon checkout, I was told that I had only transferred 41,760 PKR, and the hotel owner refused to refund the difference without providing any explanation. I expected better from a hotel near Bhurban, especially one located next to PC Bhurban. I believed they would conduct their business with integrity. Sadly, it seems that dishonest practices still run deep, even after the tragic deaths of 23 domestic tourists on January 7, 2022. It’s not about the money for me, but the thought of how other low-profile hotels in Murree might behave. I fear that many of these establishments will continue exploiting tourists like me, who had hoped the tragedy would inspire a change in behavior. Additionally, the hotel served uncooked palao with nothing else available on the menu. My experience has left me regretting my decision to visit Murree, and I would advise others to avoid it as well. In contrast, my stay at Richmond Boutique Hotel in Nathia Gali was a welcoming and memorable experience. The management was down-to-earth and accommodating, providing me with enough firewood to keep warm through the freezing -4°C temperatures, all without charging me a single penny. I will be raising this issue with the relevant authorities in Murree to ensure action is taken.
