Booked this hotel through Groupon We were informed by the hotel that the rooms apparently allocated for Groupon bookings are not the same standard as if booked direct Our room 21 had the most disgusting bathroom , mould everywhere , taps loose , rusty fittings, loose door ***** , cracked tiles , appliances thick with dust Housekeeping non existent , cups left dirty, bins not emptied etc Breakfast is pre cooked so whst you order is literally put on a plate from a warming oven , eggs were hard You had to serve yourself tea and coffee no table service Don't pay the supplement for the steak as it didn't come cooked as requested Food okay if you like lots of frozen chips! AVOID AT ALL COST!

Lovely place, great food that doesn't cost the earth, in a beautiful location with loads to do and see withing walking distance, we went in February and the easyjet was fantastic, shorts and t shirts with a light jacket all weekend

Doordat het Royal Oak hotel vol zou zitten, dus niet na onderzoek, werden wij vanuit de reisorganisatie Buro ScanBrit in dit hotel geplaats. De receptie was gastvrij en het avondeten was goed. Echter wij logeerde in een gehorige kamer, 12, met kapotte gordijnen, kapot dekovertrek met uitzicht op een rommelige binnenplaats van de buren. Ontbijt was pas vanaf 's morgens 08:00 uur beschikbaar met een klein buffet en de overige zaken kon je bijbestellen. In ons geval was het ontbijt bij de overnachting. Note: De omgeving is prachtig en zeker waard om een keer terug te komen, het hotel niet.

It’s not somewhere I would choose to stay but was booked by a friend. The location is great and staff helpful. The room was tiny and reminded me of 1980’s bedsit. The bed was comfortable and shower was great. The lift was something else too, bordering on antique!! Fine for a cheap nights sleep.

Travelled from Yorkshire whilst staying in a near by village for the weekend visiting zipworld. Travelled by train to the village, lovely place for a few drinks. The four of us had Sunday lunch and played cards outside the front of the pub for a few hours, and had a few games of pool. We had a lovely time and the Sunday lunch was reasonably priced and pretty good with lots of veg and extras provided. The beef was slightly chewy but not bad, others had pork and turkey and rated it well

Probably the friendliest hotel we've ever stayed at. The staff are all lovely and brilliant. We took our puppy and everyone made a fuss of her. Met lots of nice guests as well Food was amazing, the portions are huge. Only thing that lets it down is that the garden needs some work before the summer.

The staff at this hotel were absolutely marvellous. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they went out of there way to make your stay a happy occasion. The food was great specifically the bacon at breakfast, one of the best tasting I have ever eaten. However the portions are large, so make sure you are hungry. A very enjoyable two night stay in a wonderful part of the world. Would highly recommend a visit to this part of the country.
