A bit awkward gaining access via keypad but once in everything fine. Excellent room and breakfast so all good.

Is unstaffed, hence staff score. The staff we did see were friendly and efficient. Breakfast was ok. For me, it was nice to have the run of the place. The hotel was quite cold during the day, even in the rooms (but it was cold outside, to be fair).

Comfy room with great breakfast. A very comfy room and the few staff we met were great. Breakfast was excellent and Heather was a gem! A bit disappointing that the hotel is closed apart from the rooms and breakfast service. It’s not that evident when you book so maybe they should make it more obvious. Parking was free in the car park 100 yds away but only for 24hrs at a time. So we parked there through the day and then moved the car to the street outside the hotel which has free parking from 17:30 to 09:00. Our only concern was the fact one person left the front door open twice and with no staff at the hotel we felt a little vulnerable. We would stay again though.

There are better hotels Nobody available during check-in. They sent a message via sms however, they didnt do this until we were at the hotel. The message contained a key code to get into the empty hotel but when we got to our room there was no key in the door. We phoned them.and they said just to use another room.with a key in the door....what a faff.

Our first experience wasn't great because we discovered the Queens Head wasn't tended full time and we had to call an emergency number. However,we discovered that the sister hotel, the Castle had a room and in the circumstances they paid for a taxi to collect our luggage so all was well in the end. The Castle was very cosy and the staff were very helpful and polite

What a disaster! As instructed, we tried to phone the hotel before arrival for instructions, no answer! We asked for help from *******, but nobody answered them! There was nobody in the hotel when we arrived at 5:30pm, fortunately the front door opened, I wandered the Hotel and found keys hanging in 3 doors, so chose one! It didn't represent the room advertised or paid for but was better than sleeping in the car! One highlight was the lady who prepared breakfast, but ironically, she had been temporarily locked out of the Hotel that morning. We tried calling the Hotel number in the morning without answer. On returning to the Hotel later, there were still no staff present, and our room hadn't been cleaned. In fact, the only person we met in the 2 nights we were there was the breakfast lady who was great at her job but knew nothing about what happened in the rest of the Hotel. Its fortunate that we have a sense of humor, or this nightmare could have spoiled our whole trip! In summary one would expect for the price paid at least some customer service and you could also consider the safety concern of running a Hotel with no staff!

Step into David Copper Field’s apartment with his friend Steerforth. Enjoy a large English breakfast. Quiet night in this beautiful town.
