Hillside Villa Ohio

What a lovely lovely Inn. Located so close to downtown Berlin. The view is fantastic. Would definitely stay here again.

We stayed at the Inn for 4 days in Oct. A lovely Inn and setting for sure. Our key and information was on the desk when we arrived in an envelope. No one on site. Anyone could just walk in at anytime which we witnessed while we were there. Not sure the doors even got locked at night, which was a very uncomfortable feeling. Although the breakfast is now discontinued, there were the same dirty dishes in the sink from at least Wednesday until Sunday when we left. The first night we couldn't figure out how to work the TV. We have cable at home and this was I think streaming. No instructions. Thursday morning we couldn't figure out how to work the shower. Again, something not like at home and no one to ask. We did catch the man who was part-owner that morning who just happened to be stopping by to pick something up. He did show us how to operate both which I was thankful for. I found that a fly sticky ***** which was hanging from the kitchen full of flies gross. By Saturday, the soap on our sink in our room was a sliver. If you needed something there were numbers to call. I was not about to do that. Again, lovely place and lovely views. Will not recommend or return. I like to feel welcomed and the personal touches when I stay somewhere and you will not get them at this place.

Our first visit was July, 2023 and Hilltop Inn now Hill side Inn quickly became our favorite place to stay while in Berlin. Great location. Great views. Great room. Great Innkeeper. Great breakfast. However, Hillside is in transition to new owners. From an Inn to an Air BB. Location, view and room have not changed. However, what is missing is the Innkeeper who was on site to assist during the day. Missing is daily room service. Missing is the delicious breakfast prepared each morning by the Innkeeper. Missing is any personal contact with someone associated with Hillside. Everything is completed prior to arrival. An envelope with our name is on the desk with room key. Checkout we left the key in the room. Shout out to Dianna who is answering all the phone calls and emails. I am sure in this transition she is receiving many of both. Very pleasant and helpful. Most rooms have a two-door access. One to the former dining area and one outside. I do not know and did not check if the front entry door to the Inn was every locked. A security concern. The kitchen is available for use. Although we did not use, previous guests had and left dirty dishes in the sink. Dishes were there from at least a Thursday to Sunday. I appreciate Hillside did honor our reservation made during the previous owner. Same price and since no breakfast provided, we were given 2 $10 vouchers per day to Boyd and Wurthmann and $20 for Sunday breakfast. We will be considering if a return visit is in our future. We enjoyed all the amenities of the former Inn rather than an Air BB setting. Great place. Just not the same

Gorgeous room with a great view over fields of horses and very quiet. Apparently under new management and breakfast no longer provided but there’s a kitchen and dining area for people to use and some great cafes just a 5 minute drive away. The entire place was spotlessly clean. I don’t know why a recent review complained about towels as they were brilliant white and nothing wrong with them. The same review mentions their room not being cleaned…unless folks are dirty or trashing the place why create waste cleaning rooms every day?! You don’t need fresh towels daily, that’s mad. My husband and I thought it was excellent…great bed linens, very comfortable bed, great pillows…everything looked brand new. Very nice bathroom. Much nicer than a chain hotel. Self check in was no issue at all, it’s a small place and all pretty self explanatory. Free parking. Would definitely stay there again.

Very lovely inn, read reviews prior to booking and was impressed with them and the comments about great breakfasts. Management did not disclose that breakfast was no longer provided nor did they mention nothing else was included even no bottled water or no room cleaning or fresh towels provided during your stay. Did not see anyone from management during stay, key was left in envelope on desk with no instructions when we arrived. As mentioned in some other reviews towels were thin and like sandpaper.

A beautiful inn in a beautiful setting. We stayed in the Hillside Suite which is a spacious suite on the lower level of the inn. It's a mostly quiet secluded part of the inn but you do occasionally hear footsteps above and also could hear the television after midnight in the room above us during one of the nights of our 3 night stay. Soundproofing problem and/or inconsiderate guest? We had a wonderful view of the countryside below us just out side our door. Leona was a wonderful, friendly hostess who was most accommodating. Leona did serve breakfast during our July stay but have since seen a review stating that breakfast is no longer served. Check with the inn to confirm.

The positives: clean, friendly staff, rate. The negatives: threadbare towels and thinner walls, polyester sheets, lighting, hangers, dated, no breakfast. Apparently the inn has changed hands recently. Not sure how it accumulated so many high ratings. Nothing special, a lot of little things add up. The towels are incredibly thin. The sheets were so uncomfortable - nothing beats cotton. The hangers are attached to the rod - can’t use them to hang clothes in the bathroom. The walls and ceiling are so thin, I could hear many conversations and banging about. There is a dining room, but no dining. Breakfast used to be provided, but no more. We looked forward to leaving.

This time to Berlin, we wanted to try different lodging during our stay. Hillside is our new favorite and only place we will stay. The above description is right on. We had a lower level room. One door to the common area. One door to the outside porch, parking lot. The view from the porch is picturesque. We would sit and watch the scenery. The room is spacious and neat, clean. Leonna. What a great inn keeper. A friendly smile upon arrival and always during our convesations. The breakfast was fresh each morning with more than enough options to start our day. Location is close to town but far enough away to enjoy the countryside. Thank you Leonna and Hillside for a wonderful stay.

My husband and I had such a relaxing time staying here. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Leona was a delight to chat with and her breakfasts were great! We are so happy for the great experience!
