Hotel de France

Perfect Stay at Hotel de France I had an absolutely wonderful stay at Hotel de France, Sept 2025. From the moment I arrived, the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. A special mention goes to Amandine, who was exceptionally helpful and spoke excellent English (much appreciated, as my French is appalling!). All of my special requests were fulfilled without any trouble, which made me feel very well looked after. My room was nice — it overlooked a lovely pool .The bathroom was modern with fantastic water pressure in the shower. The bed was extremely comfortable, and I slept very well each night. I also really appreciated the thoughtful amenities: a coffee pod machine, kettle, mini fridge, hairdryer, and even a handy USB socket on the lamp. The only thing missing was a room safe, but honestly, that’s a very minor point in what was otherwise a perfect stay. Breakfast was another highlight. The continental spread was varied, fresh, and constantly replenished, which made mornings a real treat. The location couldn’t have been better — right in the heart of the old town, just a 5–10 minute walk downhill to the Dordogne River, three minutes from the Cyrano de Bergerac statue in a charming square, and only one street away from the Cathedral. There are plenty of wonderful eateries nearby, so exploring the local food scene was effortless. All in all, Hotel de France provided a fantastic experience, and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. Highly recommended!

Stayed here for 3 nights on room only basis. It's a clean and well run 3 star hotel and is perfectly located for access to the historic area of Bergerac. Staff were friendly and helpful. We did see a notice saying there was some renovation work going on but didn't see or hear anything. There's lovely clean small pool to the back of the hotel with free clean towels available. Can't comment on breakfast as we went to nearby cafes. The Saturday market happens almost outside the front door and was nice to see.

Stayed here for 3 nights. Room was clean and comfortable. Got the impression that the hotel is undergoing some refurbishment as there were signs saying so although we didn't see or hear anything. Hotel is very handy for the historic centre, and has a nice quiet outdoor pool area. Staff were friendly and helpful.
