Good points - communal areas clean and tidy. Vitoria on reception nice. Large bedroom looked like it was recently Decorated. Big bed and soft pillows. Enough electric sockets. Good shower. Soundproof, although there's always someone who has to slam their door. Breakfast good. All the usual. Bread, ham, cheese, yoghurt, fruit eggs etc. Bit manic at times. Bad points. Bedroom wasn't cleaned and bed wasn't made one day. Another day we weren't left with a spare toilet roll. Our towels were never folded and just left in a heap on the rail. Never given any milk in room for coffee. We haf a shared balcony, but if we went on it, you could see staight into another bedroom, on the corner. Thick slimy brown muck at bottom of shower. It was never clear off in the 9 nights we were there. Without effort, I cleared a bit off with a tissue. It was disgusting. Area is good and not run down considering its by the station

Stayed here for two nights. Had stayed before in the “old town” area of Bergamo which was lovely. This area would be considered “run down”. It’s a 5-10 minute walk to the main town for coffee shops, restaurants etc. Previous reviews commented how welcoming, friendly, helpful etc the reception staff were but I didn’t get that experience. Reception area is right inside the door so it can be crowded arriving and leaving with luggage, prams etc. Room was adequately spaced. Could have been given extra towels (three for a single room is basic), also needed a fridge and water glasses etc in the room. Floors could have been hoovered so make sure you wear slippers (not included in the room)! Didn’t include breakfast in my stay and glad I didn’t cos the selection looked limited. This hotel is fine for a short stay but perhaps look elsewhere if staying for longer.

Our second stay in this hotel and it will not be our last! We have now stayed here for our anniversary and my partners birthday! The staff are all so so lovely, they are so helpful. The breakfast is great - there are sausages, beans & eggs all hot and fresh and topped up often. There are many varieties of fresh croissants, there are cakes and creams and jam and toast and yoghurts also. The pistachio cream is amazing! The lobby is old fashioned & authentically Italian and we love it! The bedrooms are all different and all just as lovely. The first time we stayed we had a beautiful ornate headboard and the second time we had a perfect top floor room! ( beware there are steps up if you want a top floor) We had a wraparound balcony where we could watch a lovely Italian sunrise. Both rooms we have stayed in had baths. The service is really second to none. There are luggage holding facilities which we use. The hotel is a 10/15 min walk into a more central part of the new town and the bus/train stations which is perfect for us. It’s quite quiet around the hotel.

I arrived into Bergamo airport at just after 1am, the taxi drivers outside were like sharks in a feeding frenzy on the poor unsuspecting arrivals...I went to the front of the line of cars as is usual practice, the driver asked where I was going and then started shouting out to the other drivers, pointed out another car and told me to go there..as a woman travelling alone I am careful..I told the driver there was already someone in his car...turns out they pack you in ! Three of us, me the first drop, 2 minutes later and we arrive at my hotel, 20 euros ! Minimum charge apparently ! What a con ! Opened my curtains the following morning after no sleep due to air con set at a boiling 22 degrees! The airport is directly opposite the hotel across a major road ! The next day I walked to the airport up the road via an underpass (I wouldn't have done this at night on my own but a man checking in at reception had done) The room was basic and drab, decorated...I use the phrase lightly...bland and hostel like ! No pictures, old, tired and dull furniture...depressing...oh and NO TEA TRAY ! In the small fridge which I was amazed had been inserted into this awful room devoid of any personality or comfort, had one can of coke and two bottles of water...priced at 3.50 euro each ! I did mention on check out my displeasure of the missing tea tray and the lovely receptionist informed me the standard rooms don't have tea trays, I paid £142 for one person for one night without breakfast ! I honestly believe a tea tray is a basic requirement, also at least one bottle of complimentary water, I have self catering places and provide all of this ! I will not be staying in this awful place again.

There's not enough good words that can be said about the skills and training of the front desk staff, the breakfast servers, the evening dining room staff, and the housekeeping ladies. I am what is now being referred to as a ”Digital Nomad,” single, solo and senior traveler... and this hotel really fits my needs. Sure it could be €10 cheaper, but the room has an excellent long work countertop, WiFi Internet, large bed for sleep and for organizing travel bags, bathroom with both a tub and a walk-in shower correctly designed for use, and the food service is quite amazing. While you do need to take the taxi to most places, unless you drive, there is a major shopping mall just across the highway, and an unadvertised underground tunnel to get to the other side of the road and to that shopping center! I am not a fancy restaurant person, but the restaurant accommodates me with a very simple selection of food by my request. Both at breakfast and at dinner, the dining room is usually packed with happy diners and eaters. While I sit there with my simple food selection at dinner, I do admire the variety of Italian dishes that are ordered by other diners. Maybe I can't eat the spicy food but it sure looks good! And the other guests are very happy! I have used the Hotel's driver to taxi me to and from a variety of locations: BGY airport, Bergamo train Station, as well as the Covid vaccination center! He can be booked by SMS text and WhatsApp. Extremely easy to communicate with- both digitally and in multiple languages. The hotel is off the beaten track, therefore the taxi rides are going to be 10 additional euro from what might be expected in more urban areas. This is one of my more favorite hotels of any brand. While I rate the location as poor because you need to drive to get almost anywhere, the remoteness of the location is in itself a plus if you are residing here for more than just an overnight, because the landscaping is simple yet comforting, and major parking is underground.

Outstanding
GGuest UserSpent our last night in Bergamo at this lovely boutique hotel. We were made to feel very welcome by the staff who were very helpful. Rebecca and Joanne were so friendly as were the others but didn’t get their names. The room we had was lovely with a small typical Italian balcony over looking the roof tops and the courtyard. The bathroom was very modern and large with the most powerful shower.. There was also a huge bath with jets. Bed was very comfortable. Lovely courtyard where we finished the evening with drinks. Recommend the Italian gin. Breakfast was excellent with a fabulous buffet selection. Eggs cooked to your preference and beautifully presented. Loved the white table linen which you rarely find these days. Set in a lovely part of Bergamot with plenty of shops and restaurants near by. About 15/20 minute walk from rail station. Highly recommend.
GGuest UserThere are a huge number of positives for staying at the Hotel Piazza Vecchia. It is a charming, historic property in the heart of Bergamo’s Citta Alta (Bergamo’s old town), a short walk from all the main sights of this delightful city. The location is superb, close to lots of excellent restaurants and shops, the funicular stops and the main historic sights of the city. Most of the accommodation seems to be near the station which is 15-20 minute walk to the funicular that takes you up to the historic old town (or another 15-20 minute walk up the hill if you are athletic) so it makes a lot of sense to stay here if tourism is the reason why you come to town. The hotel is located off one of the main old town streets, up a short flight of stairs to the reception desk. It’s eighteen steps, and a stairlift is available if you need help. To the three floors where the rooms are located there is a small lift. The check in and out was efficient and friendly, the receptionists are always welcoming and speak English. They really want to boost tourism to the city and were very nice to speak to. The written communication isn’t quite as strong. Before we arrived we requested an airport pick up, which they provide through a local driver who is very nice and speaks good English. We got no confirmation to say this was arranged so emailed again to be told that it was arranged. The pick up was fine but when we went to confirm the return to the airport we found the time they had was wrong. It was soon sorted out, but I would recommend double checking the details. Parking is also available at a nearby site. Our room was on the third floor. It had a balcony with a view of rooftops and the hills behind the city, a large TV (but only with Italian channels), good WiFi, a wardrobe and a very small safe, which again showed for us that Reception is a little inconsistent. I went to use it, followed the instructions and then couldn’t open it. I informed Reception (luckily, I had nothing in the safe) and that it needed resetting, but it didn’t happen during our time at the hotel. There is also a coffee machine, fridge and a comfortable bed and an air conditioner/heater. They provide cups, glasses and a corkscrew. The most irritating thing about the room we stayed in was that there was no ceiling light, just a wall light and three lamps, making the room quite dark and impossible to find anything in the wardrobe or drawers after dark without a torch. The only other downside to the room was that there was only one bin, a small one in the bathroom so it filled up quickly. The room also had a desk, a table and seats, which weren’t that comfortable, they were like garden furniture, so I suspect that they go on the balcony when the weather improves. The bathroom had a good shower. The sink was nicely designed but a bit impractical, with a sloping bottom to it and an overhanging tap which made shaving or washing your face awkward. Housekeeping was fine but the time they clean is very in
TThomas K. LeeThis hotel is a gem that’s found in a city of Bergamo that the city itself is such a wonder of elegance and beauty of historic affluence. Certainly a very new hotel that has renovated much of adjacent abby building of acting cathedral. Ever staff is kind and sincere, trying their best for giving help to best guest experiences. Wish this hotel keeps that momentum and mindset.
We made a stop after flying to see the opera in Verona, the hotel is lovely for a 2 stars, the staff mostly good as well. the lovely young lady at reception was amazing and accommodating. The food was hit and miss 2 night we ate really well the third night nit great I sent my FAKE crab back and ordered a pizza Margherita instead that was really underwhelming .. I ate is as I was hungry, the young waiter was a little useless compare to the others we had before which where great, was also a little rude making excuses that he was tired😑.. overall a great stay, the water and fake crab cost then a full mark.
GGuest UserWe would certainly come back over and over. We were only here for one evening but everything was perfect. I wish there would be a microwave otherwise you can find everything you need in there and it's extremely clean. The bed felt AMAZING.
GGuest UserWe can really recommend staying at Ciccio B&B. Lovely host, who’s helpful with giving advice to the city and places to dine. The room was tidy and cosy. In the very heart of Bergamo, conveniently close to the old town and train station. Only downside was that it was a little tricky to leave, since we had to leave the keys inside the room, but in order to get out, we had to use the key at both the main gate and apartment gate. Maybe it would be wise to leave a postbox at the entrance where future costumers can leave the key. Otherwise very nice stay
11171816888The hotel is generally satisfied, the neighborhood is more prosperous, many shops, you can go out. It takes about 5 minutes to walk from the train station, the front desk service is very good, the front desk lady is very warm.
The Arli Hotel has an unprepossessing exterior on a busy commercial street but is very conveniently located - a short walk from the train station, or to the funicular to the old city, Citta Vecchia, and the downtown shopping and strolling streets. Inside, it is clean, efficient, and well laid-out with a helpful and friendly front desk staff. Our room was likewise very clean, with very comfortable bed, good lighting, useful shelf space and furnishings, simple modern decor, and a decent-sized and fine bathroom. Breakfast was fresh and plentiful. We were entirely happy with our stay here.
GGuest UserVery new property. Due to the period, my choice is oriented to accomodations which allow the self check-in, without the need to get in contact with other people. After following an easy and quick procedure to provide my details, I received the codes of the building and my room. Very recommended for the location, just out of the property you are in a pedestrian area with bars, nice restaurants and any kind of shops.
