Not a good experience, used a 48m2 room for selling a 43m2 room. Requested a non-beef meal end up with a beef meal. Not many restaurants nearby. 5 mins walk to the public transport.

15 mins walk from 別府大学 (Beppu University) station. Traditional style rooms with a nice private onsen bath. Cold water can be added to the bath by turning on the extra tap on the wall. There is also a list in the room specifies what minerals are included in the onsen. The dinner was excellent, we only planned one dinner there so went all in and got the 7 courses meal with both seasonal Sashimi & Wagyu beef. It ended up to be slightly too much for the two of us and we didn’t manage to finish everything, which it’s a shame to waste some of such top quality food. It’s of great value though, definitely worth the price. We also got the sparkling pear wine for our drink option (we get to pick 1 for free). It’s super tasty!!! Although it’s seasonal, so may not always be available. One thing I would recommend is to double check with the staff about the breakfast options. Apparently, if you opt for breakfast, 1st morning staying with them you will get Japanese style breakfast, and western style on the second morning. But the staff got confused between the room names (each room has its own name) so we ended up getting a western breakfast on our first morning, which is slightly disappointing as the only reason we booked it is to experience the Japanese style breakfast. However the staff and manager apologised so many time, handled it very efficiently and offered compensations. Overall speaking, I am very impressed by their food, service, and the whole traditional Japanese settings, and would definitely recommend to anyone who would enjoy a quiet time & immerse in a traditional Japanese environment.

The location is good. avery close to most attractions about 15 minutes drive away, though a distance to find a decent restaurant to eat not within walking distance. The room is clean and staff is helpful. The Hotspring bath inside the room is reasonable for just 2 persons. However the room size is rather a bit small if you have 3-4 luggages like us and rather dim. Parking space is just outside the ryokan which is convenient. Overall the stay is comfortable. Preferable to have a car if you choose to stay here. We did not have meal in the hotel. The public hotspring pool is rather small in the hotel though many would just use the in-room hotspring. It is great they had a Chinese speaking reception staff. Disliked · The room size a bit small and lighting a bit dim which can be improved. If it is purely tatami space without bed, room size would be acceptable for 2 person stay.

I read online someone listed it as 1 of the best places to stay for a room with a private onsen. I am glad I booked it. A tad expensive for me but worth it. Felt special, treated special. Pick-up at the train station (and return trip too), the room entrance, the “living room”, smart toilet, and the onsen itself😊. I enjoyed my time soaking, chilling, and healing indeed after visits to the Jigoku of Beppu. The room has everything I needed and was looking for. Would give it a 6 star if there is such a thing.

Stayed for 2 nights. English spoken. Excellent service, large room and was as described. Breakfast and Dinner was outstanding. Presentation, description by staff and taste was worth every penny. Ryokan provided a shuttle from Beppu Station and arranged taxi pick up for our return to Beppu Station. Excellent service by the staff.

2nd Ryokan stay for our Kyushu Trip, and we love it too! The ryokan is near to Yukemuri Lookout and 7 Hells of Beppu (less than 10 mins drive), hence we got to enjoy the views from the lookout before check-in and after dinner for beautiful views. We had breakfast & dinner at the ryokan, each course was served and explained on ingredients used. The staff there speak English, Mandarin & Japanese, hence non-Jap speaking tourists can communicate with them easily. The private onsen is semi-open air, so you will not feel too hot nor too windy while in onsen, (there is a shield in the bathroom to block out wind). Good wifi, TV with youtube and Netflix channel for you to choose besides local channels. As we stayed for 2 nights, hence had a special menu for our second dinner. We love the place! If you want to go out and explore the town at night, you will be given a pin (changed daily for security) to enter the main entrance after 10pm.

Located within a quiet residential area. Nice, friendly staff who can converse in English without problem. We had a private onsen within our room, so you can enjoy without time limit. The public bath also available till 9pm. We didn’t choose any meals with our stay. You need a car to travel around if you are looking for places to eat. The whole place only have 11 rooms which is a cosy place to stay.

The service was excellent. The staff was super attentive from the moment you checked in till you left this place. The food was delicious, beautifully presented and prepared using local ingredients. You were being treated as VIPs, not just one of the many guests. They explained to us every dish and the best way to enjoy, which was very useful for us as non-Japanese. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a boutique ryokan with hearts.

Pro - service mind, attentive staff and caring, very clean room with perfect private onsen in room, nice and tasty dinner and breakfast, relaxing atmosphere. Room is nice, clean. Note - private onsen in room not with sea front view, only garden view, and more like bath tub, not stone pool. If meals are inclusive to your booking, you have to check in no later than 6pm to claim dinner (so plan your route wisely if you arrange a road trip from somewhere). In November, sun set 5:30pm, so you may have to drive in the dark like me if you travel from somewhere. Con - luxury and yummy set dinner last 2.5 hrs, due to much attentive and caring, attention to details. You could enjoy it, but I somehow got sleepy half way through dinner. No elevator, if you come with big luggage and stay upper floor.
