Red Roof Inn Benton Harbor - St Joseph

Reserved two rooms for one night. I booked this room in early July for a July 12th arrival. I was asked to pay for the rooms upfront, which I found unusual, but agreed to do that. My husband and I were Traveling with my daughter and her family. Arrived at 11:00 pm to find out someone cancelled one room. Clerk was not helpful at all and stated they were booked full. We were attending a Lacrosse tournament and had to get up early for a game. I gave the room we had to them and my husband and I drove 1 1/2 hours home at 11:30 pm. Daughter send me pictures of her room -- toothpaste spit in the bathroom sink, floor around the toilet was black, could not shower as the tub was dirty, the floors were dirty, the room smelled like smoke. The only reason her family did not sleep in their car was because she said the mattresses looked new and she could smell the bleach on the sheets so she knew they were clean. Red Roof Inn charged me $193 for the night, The outside of the hotel was very unkept, weeds, trash. The reception area smelled like smoke even the hotel was supposed to be smoke free. I looked at their website and I feel it is false advertising. They showed rooms that were very nice and clean and modern, but that is not what my daughter got. I contacted the Red Roof Inn Inc. and they made a ticket to check on this and I did receive ALL my money back for both rooms and from another charge that was made on my credit card for $402 which I had no idea what this was for. Even though the Inc. made everything right, I will never stay at another Red Roof Inn. This hotel does not represent the Red Roof brand and I am disappointed that the Red Roof Inn Inc. allows hotels like this to use their name.

Absolutely disgusting and smelled like an ashtray. Dirty sticky floors. My only suggestion is to burn it to the ground and start over!

The NASTIEST HOTEL EVER The photos will provide you with the type of service your hotel provides. I did not stay until my check out date I left the night before and I also have 2 videos! Filed complaint with corporate.

Floors were dirty. Sink was clogged when I got in the room. Which someone did come and fix who was respectful. The bed frames were broken and bent. The walls were filthy. Red stuff splattered all over it. The shower had dirt and hair in it

Property in poor condition. Staff tried their best. Too bad owner doesn’t care enough to keep property up. I actually felt sorry for staff having to work there.

This was by far the WORST experience I’ve ever had at a hotel booked through *******. I would love a full refund either from the Red Roof Inn or *******. I did not feel comfortable in the area with so many people standing around outside and the night before I saw the office worker decline someone else looking to get their money back. I just toughed it out waiting for morning. The hotel looks rough and needs a lot of updates on the inside and outside. Our room was unacceptable. The bed had not been made, the floor and all surfaces were filthy. Dead cockroaches were all over the ground and the bathroom. One was found alive on our luggage in the morning. It was DISGUSTING. There was marker writing on our lampshade, the refrigerator was covered in something and had tape in place of a shelf on the inside. This place looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in years. In the morning we saw the “housekeeper” going into one of the rooms. All they had with them were sheets. No other cleaning supplies. I do not have a lot of money so I chose this for the price deal and I have to say I’d rather be more broke and have stayed in a nicer place. I would never stay again and I would implore others to not stay. Only thing that would make me happy is a refund.
