Sugarloaf Mountain Motel

BEWARE — If I could give zero stars, I would. My family and I booked two rooms from August 4th–7th. We’re low-maintenance travelers who typically book budget stays so we can splurge on food and experiences — we’re not picky. That said, this was by far the worst hotel experience we’ve ever had, and that says a lot. From the moment we arrived, things felt off. When I walked in with my 6-year-old, the front desk staff didn’t greet us with a hello — instead, the very first thing out of his mouth was, “Oh, it must be awful traveling with children.” Not only rude, but incredibly off-putting. We had checked in well after the posted check-in time, but our rooms still weren’t ready, so we had to wait while they were being cleaned. Later that night, we realized we were running low on towels, so we placed the door hanger requesting housekeeping on one of our two rooms. When we returned, we saw that the room we asked to be cleaned hadn’t been touched — no towels, no service. We let that go, assuming maybe it was missed. But the second room, which didn’t request service, had the bedding completely removed from one of the beds and left in a pile on the floor. Thankfully, the second bed was untouched and we made do for the night. That same room also had a toilet that stopped working entirely. We went to the front desk the next morning to request more towels, mention the broken toilet, and let them know what had happened with the rooms. The man at the desk apologized and said he would let someone know to make up our rooms and take care of the toilet. That gave us some hope — until we came back that evening. Not only had our first room still not been serviced and towels not replaced, but now both beds in the second room had been stripped and left in piles. To make things worse, food we had stored in the fridge — including artisan baked goods we had picked up from a local bakery — had been removed and, we assume, thrown away. As foodies, that was a big disappointment. Also, while the toilet had been repaired, it hadn’t been cleaned — and there were no supplies provided for us to do it ourselves. We returned to the front desk again. The employee apologized, gave us some towels, and moved us to a different room since the second one was now unusable. He encouraged us to speak with management the next morning during check-out. When we spoke with the woman at the desk the next day, hoping for some acknowledgment or accountability, we were stunned by the attitude. She smirked when we explained the food situation, told us they were short-staffed, and said we should have requested service at check-in — even though we had used the door hanger and spoken directly to staff the day before. Then she said we had already gotten a discount through *******, so there wasn’t anything she could do. As if booking through a third party means we shouldn’t expect basic hospitality. She ended the conversation by walking away mid-sentence. At that point, we didn’t even bother tryin

SIMPLE this use to be a great Hotel . Simple POOR staff and terrible management. It needs new day manager! Doesn't care lies right to me face treat me terrible when the problem his staff and her management. Would not even give me her Name completely Rude if i was the owner of this Motel I would read reviews 1/5 lots of them for a reason and can management and staff and get new staff in and new Management and train them how to clean rooms how to treat Guest hire people with no sticky fingers . there is a reason this hotel is so cheap you will pay for it in other ways by cleaning the room your self make the mistake of taking free breakfast and getting sick . Trying to talk to staff or management and you because the bad Guy stay clear get away from headache and stay any place else. Nothing is as bad as this place.

This is your basic one step up from Motel 6. Great convenient location. We requested room on the backside away from traffic and facing the pool. Nice pool area by open field. Room was very clean, had microwave, refrigerator, and coffee maker. To our surprise, there was no closet or place to hang anything, which was very odd. No pictures on the walls, just a basic room. Beds were comfy and clean so it suited our need for a short overnight stay.

The receptionist was a guy (30 years old! Didn’t catch his name) and he was super friendly and nice and got us a room with no notice for one night. Room was spacious and clean and suited us well, we are a family of three and got two double beds which were cozy. Definitely recommend this place! :)

Tight but comfortable room with a good bed and shower. This is not a room if you like to lounge around. The room was absolutely clean, but the look was something I remember from decades ago in the New Hampshire mountain resorts.

On a positive note, the staff at this motel were very friendly and helpful. Really expensive and definitely not worth the cost. The motel is really tired, rooms were okay. We sadly had a dirty towel in a supposedly clean room but just discarded it as we had enough. Avoid at all costs the dire breakfast. Wouldn’t stay again but ideal location for us for an event.
