First off, research where these apartments are. I had thought they were in central Benalmadena but they are a good 7km walk out of the town. Fuengirola is a 5 minute walk from the apartments. On my first day I walked about 14km into Benalmádena for some shopping and back. The rest of the trip I based myself in Fuengirola which I was already familiar with. I arrived late about 10pm. I was issued check in information and a wrist band at the gate house on arrival. This is a gated resort which is great for security. On arrival to the apartments there is a huge glass lobby looking out to the sea with lots of seating, vending machines, information etc. It is underused but lovely. There is an empty feel to the building as it is unmanned - I didn’t find this a problem. The rooms themselves are lovely. Very specious, modern, smart TV’s, balcony, lots of lighting. The hot tub on the balcony was empty and covered over which was a disappointment as I was looking forward to this since I booked. The views from the balcony out to the sea and Fuengirola are lovely. There is very little in the way of equipment for self catering. There is no oven (I didn’t need one but be aware) there are only 2 kitchen utensils. Basic things such as salt and pepper, perhaps cooking oil (in Spain in Lidl this is €15!!), and a tea towel should be provided in my opinion. But again, I managed for the week. The neighbouring Hotel Riwo was not open for the first 3 days of my stay. Riwo houses a shop, bar, restaurant etc so I was without this for the first few days so found myself going into town most days. I did have dinner at Riwo one night which is a buffet at the reduced rate of €22.50 if you stay at Casamaia. As per the reviews here already, the food isn’t warm. It wasn’t the greatest food and I did order a takeaway afterwards, but it does the job. The outdoor area at Casamaia is nice and has great views. There are sun loungers and day beds and a lovely looking swimming pool. The pool however was freezing cold and unheated. I thought the sun may have heated it but no. I didn’t see a single person use the pool in the week I was there which is a shame as it looks a lovely pool. As with the hot tub, this was a let down. There is a shuttle service from the bottom of the resort to the top, but as with Riwo, this didn’t start until 3 days into my stay. Staff that I did meet were lovely and helpful. The spa in Casamaia is superb. You get one free visit included in your stay, thereafter it is €20. Housekeeping visit every 4 days. In a nutshell, I would stay here again. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Personally I enjoy walking so I wasn’t phased by the distance issues. There is also a great and cheap bus service outside the resort. I would really like to see improvement to kitchen equipment and the hot tub and pool.
