Our family had the BEST stay of their lives so far. We traveled with 2 adults, 3 kids (10 - 12). We stayed in the presidential house because of our family of 5. While it does not have direct beach access, it is a 30 second walk to the beach. There is a ton of space, no kitchen, which is fine, the beds were very comfortable, the rooms were cold and the ambiance was calming, serene and forces you to slow down. We saw the sunrise from our porch, the kids loved laying in the hammock and nearly falling asleep. Our boat captains, Andre and Edwin navigated night time travel and rough seas to transport us safely to and from the mainland. It was a very unusual windy time when we were there, which did not at all detour our experience. Daisy was always kind to us, smiling, checking in on if we were enjoying our stay. She met us at the dock when we arrived and was there with Obie when we left. Obie would run us beers to the beach and back -- that was above and beyond and he shocked us with that a few times! He makes the best Pina Coladas. Not the mix stuff, all fresh and from scratch. Raddy and Michael were our restaurant waiters who were ever so patient with us and our kids. They were extremely accommodating and the service they provided was great. The chicken tenders were ever so good -- the kids loved them. We asked to meet the chef to send our personal thank you for wonderful meals that were unique to Belize and inspired by their culture. My kids did not want to leave, neither did we honestly. We did arrive to our next destination and the entire time we were wishing we were back at Shaka. The kids were able to paddle board, snorkel, they felt so safe on this private island. Entering the water was easy and gorgeous clear blue. It was the most beautiful place we have been and the people that work there make this island experience wonderful. Be sure to consider the tip at the end, you don't tip per person. The other respectable mention is they will not take a direct tip, they do communal tipping at the end, and please be sure to consider that if/when you are booking. We will ABSOLUTELY be back. This time, stay at least 5 nights and likely have plans to make a quick trip to Caye Caulker, but mostly stay on the island and relax. We can't wait to return.
