We had an amazing stay at the Merchant. Stayed in one of the art deco rooms, which was well appointed, spacious and spotlessly clean. Dinner at the hotel was spectacular. The ambiance, service and food at the restaurant are something very special. An after dinner drink in the jazz bar should also not be missed. Great hotel, great staff and great location. We will be back.

Nice hotel and well located. Unacceptably noisy at night. Loud music until 1am and then generally noisy for another hour from passers by. Very difficult to sleep and not a relaxing experience. Poor external sound insulation. Disappointing for a 5 star hotel to not have invested to resolve this issue.

I had booked the Merchant to surprise my girlfriend by proposing. From the moment I had booked to the moment we were checking out I have to say - absolutely fantastic service. Such attention to detail, no problem too difficult - all of the staff were amazing, and helped make this magic moment come to life, they even provided a Christmas tree in our bedroom. The bedroom a Victorian Suite was just beautiful, with a King Koil mattress that we have now decided to buy for ourselves because it was the best night’s sleep we had in so long. The price was expensive but it was worth every penny. We ate in the Great Room and had celebratory drinks in the cocktail bar on the Saturday night - 10/10 A huge THANK YOU to all of the staff that helped make this an amazing experience for me and my now fiancée to remember 😊

First class service start to finish . Attentive at check in , excellent concierge service , beautiful room and fabulous food . The spa is truly decadent with a range of relaxing treatments . And as for the cocktail bar ….. spoilt for choice ! Thoroughly recommend this oasis of calm in Belfast City Centre .

We went for afternoon tea in the Great Room and the staff are absolutely top class, the food is excellent and very well prepared and presented. I had the Japanese Green Tea is the best I have ever had. It really is such a beautiful place and hopefully we will be back soon. I have only ONE negative to say about our experience and that is the whole time during our afternoon tea in the great room, the revolving door never stopped revolving, it was like a turn style at a huge football stadium. From visitors, general public wanting to use the toilets. tourists taking photos, small tours , bunches of guys just wanting a drink. It was quite off putting and destroyed the ambience of the day and the great room. Maybe a screen blocking the view of the diners as the public enter the great room or just close the revolving door during afternoon tea.

From the moment we checked in until we checked out it was just fantastic. Really super staff , friendly happy and helpful. Seamless check in and beautiful and clean entrance. Our room 430 was like stepping into a movie set. Beautifully presented and so spacious. Clean and tidy. The beds were superb and a massive bathroom . All in all a stay that entices you back before you leave.

We first came to this hotel the year before last for Christmas away. and had such a wonderful time my partner booked again to celebrate my birthday and valentines day. I am so glad she did as i loved everything about our break from the moment we got there. Our mistake we had booked the Victorian side of the hotel rather that the Art Deco which was our preferred choice. A quick call to reception and this was sorted and a hotel porter arrived to help us with our move. The room was spacious, immaculate and was home from home for a few days escapism as we enjoyed our time in our favourite city Belfast where everyone is so friendly . I have to say that everyone at the hotel that we came in contact with were totally professional, yet extremely personable and made our stay and experience we will not forget. Special mention to the House keepers who work so hard making our stay so comfortable it was very much appreciated from us in room 231

Usual high standard rooms, housekeeping great and resupplied us with water and toiletries. Roof top sauna was not as hot as usual. Staff at reception very friendly. Art deco rooms always great size, good big rooms and bathroom. Glad to have a room to the back of hotel as was nice and quiet.
