Field and Stream

Road is terrible terrible OK ish to stay with dogs. However the road to get to the property is terrible terrible terrible. We slipped off the Provincial sand road due to mud. However the real challenge is to get to the farm house. Not fun at all especially when wet. We won't visit again because of challenges to get to the property. Real pity.

We enjoyed our stay at Field and Stream and our intention to fly fish for trout and find some birds that we don't usually see in the Lowveld was amply rewarded. Three nice rainbow trout from the trophy dam, before a storm drove me from the water and 77 species of birds including Rock Kestrels, Grey-crowned Cranes and Southern Bald Ibises. Gavin, the farm manager was informative and helpful and the views were sublime.

We stayed here over the long weekend. The setting is very beautiful, and there are really nice dams for fishing. Lots of space to walk around. We stayed in the Lodge, and it was great being able to share one space with many bedrooms as a family. It has everything you need for self-catering. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating. We were there over a very cold spell and the house is not very well-insulated. We had to put tape on the windows in the bedroom where the children were sleeping because even though they were closed there was a draft coming in which blew the curtains. The fireplace therefore didn't really help too much. The place could pay more attention to cleanliness. We had to wash plates before using them from the cupboard, the dishwashing sponge given was old and dirty, cupboard handles were sticky, fluffy material covers on toilet lids with stains. I don't think we would stay here again because, although it's nice being off the beaten track, the farm road is very difficult to drive on which makes getting into town a very long and stressful trip. Suggest only going in an SUV or bakkie, my small car made it in and out but not without a few scrapes and a lot of stress.

Great place for fly fishing ...Gavin and Greg are great hosts ...just a heads up ...try get there with a Bakkie or SUV for the clearance ..also only MTN coverage 🌟🌟🌟🌟

My wife and I had a great visit at Field and Stream and I have to say, for the time of the year, I had some great fishing. The Nest accommodation could do with some minor attention, for instance there are NO shelves in the bathroom so your toiletries end up being in the floor. The kitchen is well equipped and perfectly ample for the accommodation and the bed is very comfortable. Compared to other places in Dull's area, and we have stayed in many, it is a bit pricy but it is worth it for the good fishing. All in all its a great retreat and we will certainly go back.

Hey Guys, We had the absolute best weekend there with some amazing fishing! Gavin is a champion, and super helpful and friendly. Our only criticism would be that the unit was a little dirty. There were stains on the sheets and flies in the bedroom. I understand the bugs and insects, but flies felt a bit out of place. However this didnt put a dampener on our weekend at all and i am sure we will be back soon to rent one of the bigger units. Thank you
