Lovely gardens, and great facilities

Housekeeping was pretty much didn’t exist, plus the fact that with our without “do not disturb” they would knock ALL the time starting 10h after we arrived. Breakfast it’s just not up to scratch..

What a beautiful hotel! Spectacular service, lovely surroundings, great food. This place was a real treat. It is hard to believe that you are in the midst of a city when surrounded by the beauty and serenity of the hotel and grounds. There was a conference going on while we were there and they did a fabulous job of not allowing that to affect the rest of the guests and our enjoyment of our stay. The brunch is great, the bar provided a great dinner. We had fabulous massages and their quiet room after was perfect. The dressing rooms and shower for the spa were the only thing that was not up to the level of the rest of the hotel. It seems the space is open and shared with the pool. Lockers did not lock and the showers were full of little moth-like flys. Luckily I was able to return to my room for a good shower. The pool was also lovely and we had a great lunch at the lake house.

The hotel is beautiful! The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious. I would definitely stay there again.

Where to start with Pestana Palace . I preface by saying .. i love a hotel with character and charm and would take faded glamour all day over a corporate dull 5 star . Sadly ,while faded glamour is one thing .. the main problem with this hotel is that the rooms in the more newly built wings are completely paper thin . you can hear your next door neighbour having a conversation so if you are unlucky as we were to be next door to a more rawkus affair .. its not ideal . The staff changed our room for us very gracefully and to be fair the second room was MUCH quieter but was on its own at the end of a corridor ,so i think if you are unlucky enough to stay in a normal room ,one would always be exposed to some form of noise . The staff were adorable ,and couldn't do enough for us . Breakfast was good .. great options . No granola ,but salad items and smoked salmon especially good. Bar was nice but again we visited later in the evening and the hotel was so full with events and parties ,when we popped in for quick food around 10pm , there were no tables clean . and all tables were with dirty food items still . The staff just couldn't keep up . Once we were seated tho ,the food was good and non alcoholic cocktails nice. this was similar with the pool area restaurant . My husband went in for a coffee and all the tables were dirty . Such a shame . The exterior and grounds are gorgeous .. pool and spa great ,even though sauna was out of action .. room cleaning excellent . Overall the general vibe is v good .but these few things really marred our stay . ive given 4 stars just as i do love a hotel with character and for all its faults ... pestana would still be a potential choice if you get the right room .
