Marias Guesthouse Beja

My Husband and I just stayed here for 16 days, and I must say this place is awesome! Paulo and his staff were very gracious and attentive. The breakfasts were amazing a lot of food to start our day. I would highly recommend this place to stay while in Beja. We plan on visiting again next year.

We had an amazing time in Marias Guesthouse. The owner (Paulo) was very welcoming and made us feel right at home. The communication was easy, the room and communal area very clean and there was plenty of drinks you can buy from the kitchen. Water and tea are offered for free and you even get a complimentary shot of a local booze! Buying the drinks is based on a ‘trust’ basis, you pay for it on check out. Outside there is a courtyard, where breakfast is served and where you can have a drink in the afternoon. We had the room ‘Rainha De Leonor’ which was simply stunning. Big bed with a free standing bath tub in the room, with a separate bathroom with a shower, toilet and sink. There is an open upstairs area, with a couch to relax. We slept like babies, the bed is great and it’s super quiet and dark in the room. The location of the Guesthouse is perfect, very close to the castle and close to restaurants. Parking is 30 meters away and felt safe and secure. The absolute highlight was the breakfast. It was simply perfect, with fresh fruit, bread, lots of variety in cheeses, meat and marmelade and nice eggs and a ciabatta. Maybe one of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had in a hotel / BnB.
