Dolphin Hotel

Arrived at the hotel after walking the coast path from sidmouth.. I’d booked a twin room as was walking with a friend. Upon arrival and shown to our room we discovered we’d been generously upgraded..to a double room. They resolved this by providing another upgraded room free of charge. Problem solving at its best! The rooms were lovely, very well equipped and immaculately clean’. A little noisy but this is a pub and it was a popular weekend. We had the breakfast.. the choice was very impressive with a more than adequate provision of vegetarian and vegan choices. The hotel reopened six weeks ago. I think they are making every effort to build a sterling reputation. I would go back without hesitation. The service provided by all the staff was excellent.

What a wonderful friendly and hospital pub. A group of us turned up up unannounced and could not have been made more welcome. Exceptional service, very nice food and a great advert for Badgers ales. Personal thanks to the landlord and staff.

The hotel is situated in the heart of beautiful Beer a place we have visited many times over the years. We had a wonderful stay at the dolphin. The recently refurbished room was clean, comfortable, quiet and spacious. A good night's sleep was had by all and the room had everything we needed. The staff were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The also refurbished lower floor snug, breakfast room and bar were comfy and modern with lots of character. Breakfast was a combination of a buffet of pastries, cereal, fruit and juice and selection of hot food to order. It was delicious and definitely set us up for the day. In addition there is the bar and a menu with a good range of food. We would absolutely recommend a stay at the Dolphin and will, without question, be returning to stay here again really soon.

A massive thank you to the amazing staff at the Dolphin Hotel. We have been coming for a few years now and every time we have the best experience. The staff are exceptional and nothing is too much hassle. We hope to be back once the refurb has taken place. Thank you for making our time with you wonderful and for helping us to make memories. An extra special thank you for the amazing cooked breakfast too!

All the staff were very friendly and helpful, especially Daniel, Harvey & Dylan. Varied breakfast menu and very well cooked, as was the evening menu. Large car park and outside area for drinks in the sun. Rooms very comfortable, ensuite a little small but well planned and shower was extremely good. Stairs are a little steep but manageable even for someone with knee & hip replacements. A lovely village and very pretty. Would definitely return.

Good to see Hall and Woodhouse have finally turned things around and good to see the place full again. Excellent Sunday roast and good size portions. Will definitely visit again. Shame management have decided to close again over the winter and Christmas period, beer is not just a summer place and people visit and stay all year. Hopefully standards will be maintained and staff can be retained for next season.
