Motel 6 Beaumont, TX

If youre looking for low budget accommodations you can trust, then this Motel 6 in Beaumont has you covered. No its not the Ritz but thats not what you’re expecting with a low budget hotel. The rooms are clean, free of cockroaches and the front desk staff are excellent.  That’s what you’re expecting and this place delivers. I stay here a lot for work and the rooms are always reliably comfortable.

Served its purpose. No charge for two dogs. Would have preferred a ground floor room, but things worked out. Room was clean enough. Paper thin walls. Could hear everything. About 15 minute drive to downtown. Plenty of restaurants and stores close driving distance. Convenient interstate location, even with road construction.

Room 123. In May, 2015 I had what was probably the worst experience of my life sleeping on what they call a bed at the Sky Maile in Honolulu. This time it was like sleeping on a cloud. Thank you, thank you La Quinta Midtown. Wonderful mattress; plenty of pillows and blankets. The ONLY Warning I would offer has to do with the bathtub. "Slippery when wet" (no pun intended). They either need to add some traction strips to the bottom of the tub or some kind of rails to hold onto while showering and be prepared to take a high step over the tub if your vertically challenged like me. At 5'2" it is a high step over the tub wall down to the floor. The motel is dated. Hair dryer, ironing board, iron, microwave and refridgerator equipped. Wish there would have been a room safe. Convenient to every dining venue (Saltgrass Steak House, Red Lobster, McDonald's & Church's Fried Chicken) nearby as is the Catholic church on Eleventh. Dining area was cramped and tables too small to accomodate a party of more than 2-3. "Texas" shaped waffles and a limited selection of fresh fruit (red or green apples only).

The stay was pretty nice and comfortable for a kind of small room. It was cleaned well and had a decent amount of TV channels. The worst part was the man at the front desk trying to double charge me after i already made and paid a reservation. After waiting quite a while and finally settling that situation, i am NEVER getting a room there ever again!
