La Réserve de Beaulieu

This is off the scale ,food , service , ambience ,it’s the best , Guillaume the restaurant director is both charming and funny , and you feel part of a family, the best service , and we had the most enjoyable evening, Mano who also looked after us was impeccable, I really cannot fault this one off amazing hotel and Rois restaurant gastronomic . I have been coming many years , to stay or eat ,and it is always fabulous . Thank you all so much Vikki Akrill and James Sumner. And of course the special carriage home 😍 see you soon

We stayed in the Garden Suite, which is located to the side of the hotel entrance, and approached by its own path lined with cycads and flowers. The garden suite has a private terrace at the front with a table and two chairs, shielded by a hedge for privacy. The ground floor has a large grey sofa, red armchair, coffee tables, lamps, and minibar. The bedroom is upstairs, which leads to a large bathroom/dressing room. The bedroom has a small balcony looking onto the terrace and garden. Both the ground floor and bedroom have televisions. The garden suite has ample space, elegant furnishings, and a quiet location. The bed is extremely comfortable, with high quality bedlinen, and the bathroom is well stocked with towels and toiletries and has two wash basins. We used the hotel spa and outdoor pool each day. The pool was a perfect temperature, and a good size, with amazing views to the cliffs around Beaulieu sur mer. The spa has a number of treatment rooms leading to a small hammam, the gym, and a hot tub. The public spaces in the hotel are delightful - a very relaxing and attractive lounge area leading to a well-planted courtyard garden. Service at La Residence was absolutely superb. The hotel is well staffed and everyone we met was helpful, friendly, professional, and a pleasure to meet. Overall, we enjoyed our stay hugely and La Residence is a faultless hotel.

I had high expectations for this much acclaimed hotel (Michael Winner's favourite) and it certainly lived up to its reputation. My first impression was that this cosy little hotel was like a rich man's grand mansion, both homely and luxurious. Service was outstanding: doorman opened my car door and helped with luggage, receptionists welcoming, concierge most friendly and efficient, maitre'd charming. This hotel offers professional first class service in every aspect. My room on the top floor though compact has a balcony with great sea view, nice bathroom with tub and separate walk-in shower. Absolutely peaceful and quiet at night for a good sleep, though the mattress a bit firm for me. The outdoor seawater swimming pool was huge and well heated, allowing me to do lengths even in the winter season. The spa was small and functional, and I found it rather embarrasing to walk through the gym in bathrobe to get to the jacuzzi. Dinner in the 2-michelin star Restaurant de Rois was a fantastic experience -- beautiful decor, attentive service and haute cuisine of top quality. The 4 course set menu cost about £100 per person and it was worth every penny!

Ignore the last review giving two stars. We have stayed at the Reserve numerous times and it is completely excellent in every respect I cannot think of anything that I can mark it down on whatsoever. The table restaurant referred to by the two star reviewer is very good, the staff are excellent as is the food. They do brasserie style food there, if you want really fine food then go to the main hotel restaurant where there is michelin level food, I think it is two stars. The food is as one would expect at such a restaurant. At la table the level is lower and they even do a £26 for 3 course menu which is excellent, and changes regularly with a chef's special every day. The hotel has a Maybach car available to guests for local transfers to local restaurants. The Maybach for those who are unaware is the Mercedes answer to Rolls Royce and is a joy to travel in the rear of, much more comfortable than the long base S class. The gardens are very well designed and kept immaculate by the friendly gardeners. All the staff are friendly, and I would single out Michael at the pool and Youseff as especially good. I cannot think of anything to complain about at this hotel, all the staff speak English but put up with my pigeon French out courtesy. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area.
