We had a wonderful two days at the terrace Inn. It a charming old inn with a large porch to relax on. (You can’t use the porch during dinner service but that was ok for us). All the employees were welcoming and friendly. Especially Jill we checked us in and maned the desk in the evening. She gave of lots of tips on what to see and do. The breakfast was delicious and had at least one different item each morning. It is served buffet style so you can try a little if everything. Rooms are on the small side but beds were very comfy . It is quiet and relaxing at the inn away from traffic noise.

Had an exceptional meal here. Planked salmon with encrusted potato and asparagus. Wonderfully elegant dining room with crystal chandeliers. The place keeps its historical charm, including the lobby and restrooms. The amazing dining experience made me curious about a stay.

Pros: The aesthetic, hospitality, food, location, ambiance, all wonderful. Breakfast every morning was unsurpassed/ delicious! Dinner also delicious. Cons: The WiFi is unbearable. I’m glad I didn’t have to login to work because I’d be screwed. The property said it’s a problem throughout Petosky…idc, get some WiFi boosters! Also the air conditioner unit in our room was unbearable…it was a wall unit…sounded like a JET PLANE taking off/cycling on every 30 mins. Very difficult to sleep, hear the TV, all of it! Sad this was the case because all else was wonderful…but probably won’t stay here again for fear I’d have to deal w that again :(

We had another wonderful stay at the Terrace Inn! The Terrace is a charming historic inn nestled in a beautiful residential neighborhood 1.4 miles outside of downtown Petoskey. This hidden gem of the north has very reasonable rates which includes a delicious homemade breakfast. Be sure to have dinner on site at the 1911 Restaurant . Our compliments to the chef and staff for another wonderful dining experience (walleye was YUMS)! I suggest reservations as the restaurant is very popular during the summer. Request seating on the outside Terrace which looks down on beautiful gardens and a park. We love to walk and find the 1.4 miles to downtown Petoskey enjoyable as there are sidewalks the entire way on the residential side or you can go up and over the highway on a crossing and follow sidewalks or paths on the bay side. Treat yourself while out for your stroll and take the short walk to the Kilwins Chocolate Kitchen which is a “up north Michigan” favorite! Patti and Belinda were wonderful hosts as usual. We already have our next stay booked!

We made our Fall color tour to Petoskey last week and stayed at our favorite Inn. The Terrace Inn and 1911 Restaurant are wonderful. The setting is peaceful and welcoming. The staff are friendly, welcoming and helpful. We truly enjoy the full breakfast in the mornings (included in the cost of your stay). It's only a few minutes easy drive into downtown. You won't be disappointed.

My sister and I chose this hotel for our Sisters & Cousins Week. It has a great location, reasonable rates, full breakfast included and enough rooms with twin beds so we could share. We made our reservations early (in Nov for a Sept. trip) and were so glad we did. It is a beautiful old style hotel. The decor is reminiscent of the early 1900s and we loved the woodwork and chandeliers. The rooms were small but clean and we had our own bathroom. The hotel was full up for our week there and many of the people we spoke to were repeat visitors. Be advised there is no elevator but the stairs are not steep and it was pretty easy to get to the second floor. They DO have a couple of rooms on the main floor - just in case. There is also NO business center or computer available. If you want to eat in the restaurant, you will need a reservation but if you're staying at the hotel, you are able to order at the bar window and be served in the lobby or porch. (I highly recommend the whitefish chowder!) Staff was very friendly and answered all our questions. Our first morning we met for breakfast about 8:30. The staff left us to sit and chat until 3:00pm that afternoon. They advised us that we wouldn't have enough time to do everything there was to do and I'm sure they were right! Thank you!! We had a ball.

We arrive Friday 9/29 evening. We were checked in by Belinda the hotel manager. Never during this checkin did she tell us there was a wedding there on Saturday closing up the facility common areas to the other patrons. These are amenities we paid for in our nightly charge. We then, after 11pm had to call the front desk from the wedding noise in the room next to us - and the the next morning be told that staff that stay in rooms right below, too had complained of the noise. Saturday, we went down for a quiet breakfast to again be overtaken by this wedding event - they stood surrounding the buffet, making it difficult for the other patrons to get to. The woman who went a told the wedding persons in the room next door to be quiet, also told us that one of her employees that lives on the floor below, too complained of the excessive noise from this wedding group. When our reservations were made, to checking in - We were never informed by this establishment that this facility would be of use by this wedding, Saturday night they closed both the Restaurant and bar from any other patrons use and again, never gave prior notice. My traveling companion and I spent our Saturday trying to find another place where we could stay and at least get sleep and enjoy a warm shower / bath. At this Terrace Inn, the shower was not conducive for a woman my size and had dangerous metal pieces in it (I have pictures, if needed) AND the water pressure when other were using went down to nothing, imagine being in a shower and this occurring. We found another place (you’ll see on my credit card charge called Stafford Perry hotel, oddly this hotel is older than the Terrace Inn and has been suitably updated and too had a wedding there on Saturday however had the ability to have the wedding in one area while still keeping their restaurant and bar open to other patrons. We ended up having to pay ANOTHER $376 to move from the Terrace Inn to the Stafford Perry hotel. I told Belinda of our concerns of which she agreed of all of them and said she would speak to the new owner and get back to me. She called on Sunday and offered a gift certificate of a one night stay there for another time. That doesn’t solve the issues of having to go and pay elsewhere to get amenities we were supposed to get at their facility, I only wanted our Saturday night rate and taxes and fees returned to me and they would not.

The Staff is friendly and helpful. And the hotel’s history and decor are charming. Our room was clean and bright, but a little uncomfortable as the bed was super high to get into and mattress too soft. The window air conditioner was ancient and noisy…we opted to turn it off and open the windows the second night. The bathroom was a little tight and the shower had one of those water saver shower heads with poor pressure and needle like spray. I was also surprised to see exposed pipes in our room. The hotel has a large porch with tables and chairs overlooking a park with a peek at the lake. Hot beverages are always available in the comfortable lobby and there is a tasty hot breakfast buffet in the mornings. We enjoyed walking around the neighborhood with it’s beautiful victorian houses and it was a short drive into Petoskey and the state park. If the rooms were updated, this would be a five star, but I’d gladly stay here again (but maybe try a different room).
