Queen's View is a visual delight for the panoramic view of Lake Superior and Madeline Island (largest island in the Apostle Island chain), luxurious accommodations, enormous solarium, every room stocked with full bookshelves, every wall covered in original art. Rooms are suites, some with balconies, all with views of water from above the tree tops! This three story Queen Anne B&B is on the National & State Register of Historic buildings, all original woodwork, large winding porch for easy viewing of the lake or enjoying your favorite book. The morning breakfasts are buffet style with eggs, fresh muffins or scones, juices, coffee, fresh homemade raspberry jam, granola, plain and fruit yogurts and fresh fruit platters. More than enough to get you started. A unique feature is the outdoor garden (for serenity, inspiration and the sounds of Nature as you walk along the bubbling brook, koi pond, and metal art creations. Margie is the penultimate hostess and owner and is a wonderful source for attractions to be visited.

I cannot say enough good things about Queens View. My family and I were there for four days and it was just perfect. Margaret made us and our kids feel like family. Our room was very comfortable, the house is easy to get to from anywhere in and around town. The garden at the house is perfection. I have traveled a lot and being at Queens View will remain one of my favorite places ever! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for welcoming us with open arms!!

We travel here for fall colors, apples, and always stay here. The rooms are beautiful, comfortable, and very clean. The host is welcoming and always attentive, and really, the whole experience is memorable every visit! We love returning and finding peace and beauty here.

My wife and I just enjoyed our second stay at the Queen's View. Both times were quite memorable. First was in June 2023 when our wedding party took over the site for the weekend and we held our evening wedding reception in the lush gardens. Last week we returned and celebrated our (quieter) first anniversary there. Favorite spots are the plunge pool, the cozy solarium and the beautiful terraced gardens. The gardens are adjacent to the Big Ravine Nature Preserve (great easy hike) so the house enjoys a lush forest setting just blocks from downtown Bayfield and the harbor. The Queens View was for many years the home of philanthropist Mary Rice. Her eclectic art works and furniture create a unique and fascinating environment inside and outside. Margy our hostess orchestrated our 60 person reception as graciously and warmly as she hosted the dozen other guests during our more recent stay. We most highly recommend the Queens View for your larger gathering or a more cozy stay.

My Wife and I Stayed Recently for Our 10 Year Wedding Anniversary, The Property Grounds Are Well Maintained with the Exception of Some Curb Shrubs Which Looks Overgrown and Takes Away Some of the Appeal. Very Unique Home, Late 1900's , Love the Way the Original Owner Decorated with Her Passion of Art, and Travel. We Stayed for 3 Nights. We Decided to Stay Here Based on the Many Rave Reviews and 5 Star Ratings, What We Experienced Was Somewhat of a Disappointment. When We Arrived It Was Communicated That the Sauna Was Not Working and Would Not Be Available During Our Stay, Next the Heated Pool Was Not Heated and Was Covered, Was Told the Tarp Could Be Removed If We Wanted to Use the Pool, (Highs During Our Stay Was in the Low 60's During the Day). The Biggest Disappointing Though Was the Breakfasts, (The VRBO Descriptions States Home Made Breakfasts) We Got Up Each Day to a Continental Breakfast of Store Bought Items Laid Out on a Small Area Similar to What You'd Find at a Holiday Inn, and It Was the Same Every Morning With the Exception of Some Great Rhubarb Muffins One Day Only. We Expected the Culinary Passion and Uniqueness Associated with a Bed and Breakfast Experience, I Did See Another Post on Yelp That the Owner Stated You Could Have a Breakfast Made but for an Additional Fee? When We Asked Maggie About That She Backpedaled, Said I Do Sometimes Based on the Group Size Etc. Older Posts I've Found From March of This Year Show the Exact Same Breakfast Items from Other Dissatisfied Guests. We Felt We Got an Overpriced VRBO Stay (Spent Over 400 a Night) with a Host Who Seemed Somewhat Checked Out for Smaller Groups Stays aka If Only a Room or Two Are Occupied Instead of the Whole House. Only One of the Pool Pics Are From Our Weekend.
