Ruttger's Bay Lake Resort

We were extremely disappointed with our recent experience at Ruttger’s Resort. We had reserved a brand-new two-bedroom king unit, which was advertised as being completed before our stay. Just four days prior to our arrival, we received a call informing us that the unit would not be available due to the resort’s inability to get the power company on-site in time. As a result, we were offered the only remaining option—a one-bedroom “rustic” cabin. Unfortunately, what we encountered upon arrival was far from acceptable. The cabin was not just rustic—it was outdated, poorly maintained, and full of cobwebs. Most alarming of all, we discovered bed bugs in the bedroom. At that point, we had no choice but to pack up and leave immediately. We contacted the front desk and were told that no manager was available but that someone would follow up. It took three days before we heard back. While we did receive an apology and a refund, there was no real effort to make things right or acknowledge the seriousness of the situation—especially considering it was our first visit to Ruttger’s. When we informed them about the bed bugs, the only response from management was, “We need to update our maintenance protocol.” We understand that unforeseen issues can arise, but the lack of timely communication, the unacceptable condition of the alternate accommodation, and the minimal response from management fell well below our expectations—especially given the resort’s reputation and pricing for peak season.

The staff were alot of fun and the place had a lot of history.. very memorable
