Rooms are very much dated.. We were on the first floor and the room smelled like mildew. My son was on the second, his did not. Housekeeping did a poor job of cleaning the room daily; Never swept the floor so it was completely gritty from day 1, hair was in the shower from previous guests, wash cloths & towels were dingy and stained, and the minibar was not stocked daily. We attempted to change rooms or use the $40 upgrade credit, but the staff told us we were in one of the better rooms that they had. Resort credits=Complete BS! Only $20-$25 can be put toward a service or excursion and that’s per room, not per person. There really isn’t anything to spend it on, so we had $600 worth of unused credits. The sister resort (Royalton Punta Cana) had better amenities. We were told that the best option is to stay at RPC, and still have access to the waterpark at Splash.. The waterpark was definitely the highlight for the kids. Word on the street is that Royalton Splash is scheduled to be renovated soon. I hope this is the case because I definitely wouldn’t visit again without changes being made. Heads up, no beach access from Splash.. You can enter through RPC. Not a big deal but wanted to point that out. Aside from this, the staff was friendly and the Caribbean Sunset drinks were refreshing!
