Disappointing Stay – Glad We Had Friends Nearby The location was ideal for us, as our friends were staying in an Airbnb just up the road — and thank goodness they were. Unfortunately, our experience at the hotel left much to be desired. Upon arrival, we found the room extremely hot and humid to the point of feeling claustrophobic. We were provided with less than half a roll of toilet paper, which was never replenished. Staff at reception were rarely seen, making it nearly impossible to request anything. The beds and floorboards were so creaky that even turning over at night created a loud racket. Midway through our stay, we were asked to change rooms due to scaffolding work outside that would continue until 1am. We were offered complimentary breakfast as compensation — though this was hardly a consolation. The dining area needed a deep clean; we noticed snail trails on the carpet next to our table. We tried to order pancakes but were told, “Oh, that shouldn’t be on the menu.” When we asked about available soft drinks, the waitress couldn’t give us an answer. The new room faced the main street — which might’ve been fine if it hadn’t turned into front-row seats to a violent altercation. One night, I was woken up by shouting outside. Looking out the window, I witnessed a member of the bar staff attacking someone with what appeared to be a wooden plaque. It was shocking and certainly diminished any remaining comfort we felt at the hotel. All in all, we were extremely thankful to have friends nearby where we could actually relax. This hotel, unfortunately, became just a place to crash — and not comfortably so.

The bedroom and bathroom need a lot of TLC, toilet had not been cleaned properly on arrival. Blueloo had been poured into the toilet basin only to cover up some disgusting marks from the previous guests! Disappointed with the breakfast on the first day as I had ordered scrambled eggs which were cold, had to send them back and then they were just put into a microwave, not re done fresh. Pity they didnt provide any cereals and only had orange juice on the one day. Evening meal was fine. Bed was comfortable and restaurant and bar areas were ok, could do with a bit more cleaning everywhere.Breakfast staff could do with wearing some sort of uniform as they looked a bit scruffy, but all the staff were pleasant enough.

We stayed on a stop-over from Scotland, returning to Yorkshire. Lovely location in Pooley Bridge, comfy bed, good shower. We'd definitely stay again, thanks team.

Overall we enjoyed our 3 night stay, the room was very basic but was what we expected. Some little improvements in customer service would have improved our stay :- no soap provided in the bathroom, cleaning the cups and replenishing tea bags etc (we had to request these from reception), smarter attire for those serving breakfast, we had to wait to check out with 2 other families as there was no one on reception. More choice at breakfast would have been good as we didn't always want a cooked breakfast. Had our evening meal there on the first evening and that was good.

Stayed for one night before an early sporting event on 29th June. Room a bit dated but ok. Asked in April if an early simple breakfast (cereal and toast, coffee) would be available because of the event. Was informed that would be. On arrival was told they knew nothing about it and couldn't provide cereal as they don't have any! For £90 (just me staying) I'd have thought they could get some! No offer of any money back for not having a cooked breakfast for two.

Disappointed. Room fine but shower difficult to regulate; either scalding hot or tepid/cold. No time to raise with relevant staff before leaving. Had booked in writing a request for 7.30am breakfast and rang in advance to confirm. Told this would be Ok but when I arrived, told staff couldn’t get there in time. When I did receive breakfast, the scrambled egg was almost cold and beans only a little warmer. Minuscule piece of toast. Not a good experience and not worth paying over £100 for.
