Great staff
The staff were all wonderful. So friendly and helpful. The lady who was on the night time reception was just amazing! Because of the staff, I would book again. Yes, the hotel badly needs refurbished, but renovations were being done. I look forward to seeing the place when they are completed. Breakfast was good.

Hotel has obviously come a long way, rooms and reception looks great, hallways and bar need a recarpet which is coming and scaffolding on front will come down. Will be a great hotel as soon as it's finished, great staff, really helpful. Car park is small but there's free parking opposite overnight and you can move your car in the morning it's fine. Would recommend

Room OK, hotel and service poor
The room itself was fine. The hotel in general was like something from The League of Gentleman. We were short a cup in the room so went to reception around 11pm where there was a very strong smell of cigarette smoke.
The carpets in the corridors are stairways are quite stained/dirty.
At breakfast (strong smell of cigarettes in reception again) it became apparent that people had been waiting for food for quite some time, one person sent their food back before it was cold. There was a chef looking chap in a flap and the poor lady waiting on was clearly distressed at the situation.
There seemed to be a lack of experienced management presence at the hotel and whatever had happened was being particularly poorly handled. No issues with the room, but the overall experience was a calamity.

We were on town visiting family and just wanted a cheap hotel with breakfast for 2 nights, we arrived on Friday aware of the refurbishment going on the exterior is covered by scaffolding at the moment so we actually drove past at first, on entering reception a very friendly guy checked us in and gave us our key explaining that all the rooms were finished and other work was going on our room was lovely spacious and clean with a comfy bed, breakfast was very good, full cooked English and good selection of cereal and pastries, added bonus the was open despite the website stating different, we will definitely stay again, very good value

Room was well presented and the bed was very comfy. The main hall carpets were in a poor state but I assume this is as they will be the last thing to be replaced. Breakfast was nice with a good range. The staff were really helpful and friendly. I can confirm that there are fire extinguishers dotted about the place. Not the nicest I have ever seen but definitely not the worst and I am very sure that they would have been effective at dealing with an incident or to be used as a weapon. Can't say the same for the much vaulted WiFi which would be both a terrible firefighting appliance or self defence tool.

Recommended Barrow hotel
Small but free off street covered parking adjacent to hotel.
Hotel is clean and staff were very friendly and helpful.

Recommended - friendly, clean and comfortable.
On night stay for a football game. Hotel is undergoing refurbishment and so the front is covered in scaffolding and the halls and stairways are certainly more than a little tired
That said the staff were exceptionally friendly, the room itself was clean and comfortable, the Wi-Fi was strong, the shower was hot and the breakfast was very good. I would definitely stay here again
