Pub/ accommodation is in a beautiful location in secluded countryside, next to River Windrush. We stayed for 2 nights in Duckleston, a comfortable and cosy bedroom with newly built large showerroom. Stayed for breakfast (in price) and evening meals as we wanted the luxury of taking our drinks back to our room. Great location for visiting the Cotwolds by car. Friendly staff/ owners and great food. Pub was cosy with a fire in evenings. Would recommend. Views from bedroom and bathrooms was idyllic, onto the river and adjacent fields.

Our stay at The Fox, Barrington in the Cotswolds, was a lovely experience. From the moment we walked in, the charming, rustic atmosphere of this traditional pub made us feel right at home.We were greeted by Corine, who looked after us in the most professional way. She made us feel so welcome, and this continued for the duration of our stay. Accommodation: The room was spacious, comfortable, and clean with a perfect blend of modern amenities and cosy country charm. The en-suite bathroom was well-appointed, with toiletries provided. The room did need some tlc as there were some marks on the paintwork. On the second evening it was noisy and we could hear the occupants in the room above using the bathroom facilities. Food: The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the food. The menu offered a great selection of local dishes, each made with fresh, seasonal ingredients. The pub also offered a well stocked bar. The staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed without being intrusive. Breakfast on the first morning didn't meet with our expectations. We opted for the full English, which was very disappointing considering the fabulous meal we experienced the night previously. Overcooked bacon and luke warm ingredients served on a cold plate. However the following morning we experienced a better service and our chosen option of waffles and pancakes was much better. Overall, The Fox at Barrington was an enjoyable experience. With its combination of great food, comfortable accommodation, and friendly service, it’s the perfect base for anyone wanting to explore the Cotswolds. Highly recommended!

We booked a last minute stay at the Fox, and what a lovely find it was! We arrived to a small welcoming bar, with a cosy lit fire - We were shown to our room by a very nice gentleman, and we were pleased to find a clean and nicely decorated room. Our meal in the bar was particularly good - The pie was fantastic, and I would go out of my way to come back just for that! We were made to feel welcome, and even the locals had friendly chat - After waking up, and opening our shutters, my husband sat and watched 3 local barn owls hunt in the field opposite (how lovely) - We made our way down to breakfast. The cooked offering was very nice - My only suggestion would be mini boxed cereals instead of the open bowls of muesli on the counter - We really enjoyed our stay, would highly recommend eating here, and will definitely return when we come back to the area - Thank you :)

Absolutely lovely stay: superb room and fabulous meal; Allen and Andrea and their team are delightful. Great for walking/sightseeing, and a lovely setting by the river. Strongly recommended. Easy access to other local villages and towns: Burford, Stow, Bourton-on-the-Water, etc.

We visit the Fox several times during the year whilst in the area and yesterday had Sunday lunch sat outside in the winter sunshine by the river. Staff couldn't be more helpful and very cheerful, lunch was amazing and plentiful with the best gravy we've ever tasted. Well worth a visit not only on a Sunday, the whole place is very customer focused.

I decided to visit The Fox earlier this week and what a terrible mistake that was… I cannot even begin to explain how rude and uninterested the man at the bar was, from what I overheard he was the owner I can tell you right now he shouldn’t be! I tried asking about the selection of ales to which he ignored what I’d asked and pointed at the bar girl to serve me. I then tried asking about the history of the pub and he simply walked away. Now to move onto a more serious subject… the hygiene. This place should be shut down! I was utterly appalled when I walked past the kitchen (there is a big window so you can see right in) and one of their chefs was stood there scratching at his face and then stuck his finger up his nose and proceeded to put it in his mouth before his hand went straight back into the food! TOTALLY FOUL. I can say right now I didn’t take another bite of the mediocre, bland and overpriced food I was served. My husband and I abruptly left, we decided to go through the back of the pub so we could at least see the garden which I cannot deny is lovely but to my horror on our way out my husband pointed into their restaurant area at a mouse… I don’t know if they are aware they have mice or not but please for your own safety DO NOT EAT HERE!!!
