Room was lovely and clean with everything you need during your stay. Room was serviced however the milk and coffee had not been replenished therefore had to go looking at reception to ask for more - there was no one around at reception area so just went to bar In restaurant and asked for some there. At breakfast there was a good selection and the waitress ( I think her name was Terry) was very pleasant with nothing being too much trouble for her. Cooked breakfast was okay - think it was batch cooked then reheated , didn’t taste freshly cooked to order like it used to be. Hotel looks beautifully decorated but feel the booths make it feel more like a pub surrounding rather than a restaurant. I also felt overall staffing levels are at a minimum and hotel is probably more 3 star than a 4 star. All that said it would be a nice venue for a wedding as it is situated in lovely grounds - maybe that’s more who they cater for now.

I took my granddaughter for an overnight stay for a treat, in July. I booked the family superior room and was told you have been upgraded. Now this sounded great, but my granddaughter said I really wanted the room we book, i was then to be told no this room is better. When I said no again !!! They gave me the room key and I was met by a cleaner i opened the door and THE BED WASNT MADE THERE WERE CLOTHES ON THE FLOOR !!!! This clearly was already booked. When I booked months before!!! How d i know this ???? There was a wedding booked that day !! Myself and my granddaughter was approached by the manager and asked if the wedding photographer could come to our room and take pictures of the bride an groom out of our window !!! Of course I said yes why would I not it's a massive memory. BUT I still never got the room i booked ( i book this room regularly for us) I was shown the room I should have had by the cleaner which someone was clearly in and I have to just say ok !!!! NOT HAPPY !!!

Visited the Hotel for a family lunch. 2 starters, breaded mushrooms. Didn't have to wait too long. 4 mushrooms on a small plate with a little side salad - £7.25, Tasty but way overpriced for 4 small mushrooms. Then we had 2 x the Sunday beef roast and 1 haddock and chips. The Sunday roasts comprised of 2 thin strips of beef, mashed and 2 small roast potatoes (one of which was black inside), baby corn, carrots and sugar snap peas and a Yorkshire pudding. Ill get to the point - The beef and gravy were average, but everything else on the plate was completely bland! £18.50, come on. My Mothers haddock was a good size, but had very greasy batter. The location and grounds are beautiful, but the food is way below par. Its a big restaurant, but only 8 tables were being sat at (1pm on a Sunday) Tells its own story. I was asked if everyone's meal was to their liking? I was honest and relayed my thoughts. There was an apology and they said that my comments had been passed back to the kitchen. The bill was paid in full and we tipped the staff who were attentive. No offer of a reduction We will not be back, which is a shame! Paul M

We are regular visitors to the Hotel and are rarely disappointed however we encountered a significant issue at lunch on Sunday. We were a party of 5 and were informed that it was Fathers Day menu only costing £37 and was three courses. If you only wanted two courses you still had to pay for three!!! Two of our party are in their 90s and do not eat large volumes so three courses simply not needed. We wanted to choose from the A La Carte menu….not permitted on that day. I may add that the food was extremely good but zero flexibility on menu price and that is not acceptable however could do nothing about it. Very irritated with what I am sure is a centrally taken decision by Management and we do not blame local staff.

My Wife and i booked for a tribute night. On viewing the seat planner we found that our names were not on the list. The Manager in charge Laura swiftly got a table set up for us and gave us a few drinks on the house which were greatly appreciated. Coming from a Customer Service background i found this to be exceptional service. The food was delicious and included a 3 course dinner. Breakfast was great as well. The room was very modern and very clean. Both my wife and myself stay in a lot of hotels and we could not find any faults whatsoever. A massive 10 out of 10 for our stay.

Checked in here for a friends wedding Charged £170 for the night of the wedding when the going rate for a Monday night was £91 Thought I had misheard them My partner said they just charged your £170,I went back to reception to be advised the wedding party had a guaranteed rate of £170 specially negotiated I said this is double website rates They said tough and no I couldn’t cancel I was too late Total exploitation of wedding guests Stay somewhere else and taxi a taxi or don’t stay at all You won’t sleep because of the poor sound proofing and we didn’t stay even after paying I asked politely for a reimbursement of the difference pointing out we didn’t use the bed / nor had breakfast Tough luck Couldn't care less AVOID
