GGuest UserThe Residence Inn exceeded our expectations. It is conveniently located and is in walking distance of the beach and several restaurants. The room was large, had a desk and small kitchen table and also a kitchenette with a two-burner stove, dishwasher, microwave, and a large refrigerator. Basic kitchen items (pots, dishes, glassware, flatware) are stocked. Everything was very clean. The walk-in shower was large and the towels were plush. The king sized bed was very comfortable. The room was quiet and no road noise was heard. An outside pool and putting area are available as well as a small inside exercise room. Breakfast was included and was very good with scrambled eggs and Canadian bacon one morning and ham and cheese fritatas plus bacon another. Make your own waffles. Fruit, yogurt, oatmeal, cold cereal, juices, etc. ensure something for everyone. All the staff at the hotel were very friendly and always had a welcoming greeting. The only ”complaint” I had was that the first floor ice machine was out of order. We would not hesitate to book again for a return visit to Amelia Island. Pets are allowed, as we saw several dogs, but I did not inquire as to charge or any restrictions.
A hotel with entertainment, dining, live music, and a historic harbor/waterfront less than a football field away? This hotel pulls it off! Stand on the sidewalk just outside the office and there are a plethora of restaurants and entertainment right there in view. An eclectic multitude of local stores and shops, each with their own unique flair are accessible with just a short walk of a few minutes. Right behind the hotel, just across a rail line is the harbor and waterfront with a terrific view of the sunset over the Amelia River. The location alone gives this hotel a terrific value. Inside, the room was smaller than a lot of newer hotels I've stayed at, but the room was clean and well kept. There was one small piece of corner trim board pulled loose right next to the bed, but that was the only flaw I noticed. Breakfast was included with waffles, omelets, pastries, cereal, and fruit available along with a great view of the waterfront from the breakfast area. Parking is quite tight and requires a parking permit from the hotel office. The drive around the hotel is VERY narrow, and the lot fills up quick. If you can't find a spot in the parking lot or along the driveway, check the gravel overflow lot UNDER the building on the back side of the hotel. There are several spots underneath building right on the ground level. No matter if you're coming to Fernandina/Amelia Island for the shopping, the nightlife, or the beach, give this hotel a look.
GGuest UserBooked three nights and checked in online as an Honors Member so I chose our room specifically for it's first floor location. Got to the hotel at 5:15 pm and not only did we have to wait for our room but after 20 min wait went to the desk and discovered we were on the 3rd floor. While they were apologetic it still wasn't the first floor. The first day we left our room by 10:30am and returned around 4pm and the room was not serviced. The bed was poorly made and there were new towels piled on the vanity but that 's it. Trash was not emptied, The rug was not vacuumed. Nothing was wiped down. Second day - worse. We left our room at 9am returning just around 4pm and nothing had been done. Went to the desk, expressed my disappointment and was told I someone would be to the room soon. 35 minutes later someone showed up. Did the absolute minimum - nothing in the room was replenished - no new towels or bathmat, no water, no coffee cups. While I realize that it's hard to find employees these days it would seem logical that you don't fill more rooms than you can handle. It would also be wise to check the registry and see who's staying and who's leaving. If check-in in after 3 is the policy (which seems fluid anyway), then do the rooms that are occupied first and the rooms that are emptied last. Management needs to manage.
