A beautiful hotel overlooking Bangor Marina. At checkin we were greated by a very lovely , polite and professional young lady called Lauren. Our room was on the top floor and overlooking the marina , very comfortable bed, plenty is space and fabulous shower. The hotel has a very friendly and cheery atmosphere. Breakfast was superb, a great variety to choose from. , The Eggs Benedict was so filling it kept you going for the day. Lauren was on hand if you needed anything. On departure Lisa was very friendly and made our che out simple and straightforward. Overall a brilliant few days in Bangor and would highly recommend the Nines to stay, enjoy a meal or just a drink. Thank you also to Stevie who organised our booking by phone.

We have just returned from a 6 night stay at the Nines, this Hotel is very old and tired although the restaurant and bar area are very good and a fab atmosphere. The location is also good. I requested another room after the first night the bathroom was disgusting the bath panel was falling off and it came with a horrible plastic shower curtain the floor was minging and the skirting boards had fur coats on very very old furniture and the hairdryer would not reach the plug the pillows where worn out. After 2 nights I requested clean towels and was told there were none in the linen cupboard so had to wait a while till they sourced some from somewhere the bathroom was not touched the whole time and the bins only got emptied on the third day also I had to ask for clean cups

Nines restaurant, initially had the tempura broccoli for starter, not tempura just battered broccoli extremely greasy and not recommended. My wife ordered the smoked cod and thought it was nice. I ordered the sea bass and risotto for main, sea bass skin not crispy at all, but, fish was nice. More importantly, risotto was extremely under cooked. I ate the fish, but left the risotto as not really edible. I did say to waitress, she did offer a free dessert but we declined as really didn't fancy one. My wife had a few cocktails and requested if they could just remove one of the cocktails. The waitress said to her manager. The manager did come over and was quite assertive and said, well, did you complain to the waitress, I explained no, as my wife was eating her main, I ate the fish but couldn't eat the risotto as it was inedible. Not al dente, (I'm actually a trained Italian chef). Advised by manager in an extremely abrupt way, as didn't complain at time they could not assist further. I paid the bill, but stated that I would be posting a review and would not be back. Not even thank you once bill paid and just glad to see the back of us.

Boutique hotel it is not. Workmans digs maybe. The bath and sink had hair and grime. Around the bathroom floor next to the toilet needed a hoover of the hair and grime. Arrived late, and did not really noticing until the next morning when was rushing to get ready. Having to inconvenience myself to get it rectified, I didn't have time for. So I cleaned round the sink and bath myself. The glasses above the sink were both dirty. I boiled cleaned the cups before using them. The room carpet needed a hoover. But the bed was made with clean linen. So clearly someone did part of a job? Now I have bits marks on my leg. You better pray I didn't bring bed bugs back from you. Reception staff had no clue how much a breakfast would be to add on. Night porter who did our early checkout didn't know how to check us out. However, all the staff were pleasant and tried their best with what they knew.

A firm favourite with my husband and I. Be it their breakfasts, steak deals or midweek dinner. The Nines is a beautifully situated, hidden treasure along Bangor’s coast. A highlight in this chicly decorated restaurant would be their margarita menu- a spicy margarita is a firm favourite of mine which is executed perfectly every time. As “fussy” steak eaters, we often find our favourite steak is that made at home and rarely chose this on the menu due to never receiving a truly rare steak. However we were delighted with our tomahawks that were cooked to perfection. (Well done chef) Accompanied by a lovely glass of red from their varied wine menu. This is our “go to”place for birthdays and anniversaries. A point worth noting that we’re often disappointed to observe is the service; although always polite and well mannered, we find drinks service particularly slow. We are rarely checked on during our meals and find the attention of staff difficult to attain. We would love to see this improved in the future to award it the 5 stars we know it is is capable of!

The fact there was no elevator/lift made this stay impossible if we had not had our son in law with us. At 85 and 75 getting our luggage up those staircases would have been impossible.
