Kanvela House

Buddha pals is a brilliant Jazz club. It was always a hit with the crowd, wine flowing, and great music, so if you want a good time, this is the place! But as a guest house Kanvela is TERRIBLE. It definitely has no value for money, I paid quite a fair bit for a room with a shared bathroom down the stairs. We checked in around late evening and went out to Khao San road, we came back around midnight, and the place was full of crowds. We went up to our room, hoping the music would stop anytime now. It went on until about 3 am. My husband dozed off to sleep waiting for hours, supremely tired. I understand noise from the streets but running a guest house and a jazz club that goes on until the wee hours of the morning, that just doesn't work for me. They serve breakfast between 10am - 12pm, it's not great time when you are travelling and you are actually in Bangkok to see the city! We went out in the morning and came back around 11 for breakfast. There is no separate help/servers for the guesthouse. The girls who work in the Buddha Pals bar serve breakfast and they just didn't look happy. They could not communicate much in English, which was absolutely fine as we used translators everywhere in Thailand. They lacked the intent to serve. One of the girls showed me a picture of the breakfast they service on her phone. We chose what was served. She was constantly rude and upset with me and I was literally scared to ask questions or additional servings. Again, we paid a fair bit to have this kind of shoddy experience and I would definitely not recommend this place for a stay.

The First Visit When I walked in to the Buddha and Pals, I felt relieve and It just like I have lived here before once in the past around Wat Sommanat area. I really like the idea of the Time-Lapse aka ‘Kanvela’ in Thai, makes you feel like you travel back in the past in the King Rama V period and reconnect with the present, recommend to read the story of the place and you’re gonna love how the idea brought up from the owners with “well in depth studied renovation”. Besides, Interior with the combination of floor tiles, windows, doors and furnitures which are very unique in ancient style and well managed renovation. Colonial styles exterior make you feel warm welcoming and inviting to chillax inside and enjoy a good drink. This hostel is perfect for the travellers that you must visit and experience by yourselves if you have spare time for relaxing. The People - Here the place with generosity and professional staffs make you feel like you fell in love with them, they’re very helpful and willing to serve you nicely with all menus that you’re asking for. Starting with ordering for Mocha with Late Art and delicious cakes: Carrot Cake, Lemon Tart and Bael fruit or Matoom Cake. They put smiles on their faces when serving you, well responsive and in a great manner for the guests having meals in one of a kind restaurant in the heart of Bangkok. Love to introduce you as well with one of the cutest cat on the planet that was sleeping on the desk and spending time indulging into his dream of Broadway. The Trumpet (background music playing), you can enjoy the most relaxing “Jazz music” feel like a live pianist and the band playing the excellent song for you and put you on top of the world with worried-free and get more relaxing in bustling town. Sound of the Saxophone through the song indulge you into the canal of Padung Krung Krasem which in front of the venue. You just put yourself into the good vibe and emotion, music will release your mind and set you free. If you love Jazz music, this restaurant is a must and right place for you in the heart of inner Krungthep. The Chairs in variety style, look around while sitting, you can never get your eyes off of these items. So many unique chairs like you never seen before, the wooden relaxing one, the back support with fluffy red velvet, the metal stool, the Chinese style chairs with round table, the outstanding green flannel chair, the long beautiful turquoise fluffy couch. They all belongs to one table and waiting for the sophisticated dishes to be served. The frames - pictures, flowers and vegetable pictures with the beautiful painting make you feel like you are in the forest or garden while collecting the beautiful flowers and describe structure of them in every single details like Charles Darwin or Leonardo da Vinci. I love the colours of painting and once you look at once of the yellow flower in the frame and look outside the window of the restaurant, you’ll see the Golden Shower aka Rajapruek outstand
