A gem of a hotel, seems to be family run. The whole place is very clean and well looked after. Their staff are friendly and attentive to all needs. One of the best hotels we stayed at on our 12 day tour. Stayed for two nights.

Had a very nice stay of 2 nights at the Orient hotel. The room was good, basic, nothing fancy but everything you need. It was clean and had a good shower. But the best of this hotel is the staff and the food! They are all so nice and the food is really good! We got a 4 course meal and with fish, meat, vega and pasta options to choose for the main course. Good quality-price range. We recommend this hotel if you're looking for an affordable mid-range hotel in the city centre of Bandaruwela close to the train station.

Unser Aufenthalt im Orient Hotel in Bandarawela war eine wunderbare Erfahrung, die wir uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen können. Das Hotel liegt ruhig und dennoch zentral, ideal für Ausflüge in die herrliche Bergregion Sri Lankas. Besonders hervorheben möchte ich den herzlichen und professionellen Service: Das gesamte Personal war durchweg freundlich, hilfsbereit und stets bemüht, den Aufenthalt so angenehm wie möglich zu gestalten. Ob an der Rezeption, im Restaurant oder im Zimmerservice – man fühlte sich immer willkommen und bestens betreut. Ein absolutes Highlight war die ausgezeichnete Küche. Die Auswahl an lokalen und internationalen Gerichten war beeindruckend – alles frisch zubereitet, liebevoll angerichtet und geschmacklich hervorragend. Besonders die traditionellen sri-lankischen Speisen haben mich begeistert. Auch das Frühstück war sehr vielfältig und bot für jeden Geschmack etwas. Das Orient Hotel bietet eine wunderbare Kombination aus Komfort, Gastfreundschaft und kulinarischem Genuss – ich komme definitiv wieder! Schönes Frühstück und Abendessen mit super nettem Koch der sich um uns persönlich gekümmert hat. Das Kochevent mit ihm und unser vorher auf dem Markt gekauftes Gemüse war großartig. Äußerst nettes und aufmerksames Personal.

We stayed two nights in this hotel as part of an Intrepid tour of Sri Lanka, therefore did not choose it ourselves. I really liked my room in this hotel and it had a great bathroom. There is also a small bar which isn't always staffed. Location is good and we were able to walk down to a local pizzeria for dinner on two nights running. You can find the pizzeria in my previous reviews. Overall I would recommend.

The room was comfortable and spacious. A little dated and kitschy which added to the charm. I enjoyed the bar area which was old school design with karaoke and a billiard table and well stocked bar. The head barman was attentive and chatty. Unfortunately it was very quiet because it was out of season. Breakfast was simple but plentiful. Need transport to visit anywhere of note.

Hot water takes 10 minutes for it available. Buffet dinner and breakfast just average. Caters for large tour groups which get priority. Springs in mattress broken.Opposite a Muslin Mosk. Not much peace. No lift. Bad accomodation for driver. Wouldn’t stay again
