Lovely old country house full of character and charm. Beautiful gardens. Booked the last minute. My only regret is that we only stayed one night. Our room was a very good size, along with the ensuite shower room. Very high ceilings. Just like Downton Abbey. John the host was very charming and great laugh. He cooked a great breakfast for us. Beautiful cats. Will definitely will be staying there again for longer.

Visiting family in Northern Ireland and decided to stay here as it was close and we wanted something traditional rather than hotel based. Upon arrival, we were greeted by John - who is the most friendly, chatty and warm guy! The guest house is expansive and has a large welcoming hall way with pictures, paintings and has that homely rustic feel. The bedrooms are bright, with large windows, I had shared bathroom which was fine, plenty of towels & the shower was new so nice and powerful. Breakfast was cooked by John (man of many talents) and we shared breakfast with them at the table and chatted the morning away. All in all this is a true Irish guest house with lots of charm - would gladly stay here again!

Banoge House Google review summary 4.8 71 reviews 5 ★ 4 ★ 3 ★ 2 ★ 1 ★ Reviews on other travel sites Reviews Search reviews Lizzie 1234 5/5 a week ago on Google I can only say, if you haven't stayed here before, then make that booking today! We needed somewhere to stay last minute and stumbled upon this absolute gem. Pulling into the car park, we were greeted by the most amazing John (host) He could not have done enough for us. It was late, we hadn't eaten - he ordered us a chinese, went to the local off-licence for drinks, came back with the goods and ended up having drinks with us in his kitchen. He is one of the most hilarious guys, telling his stories, everything was so funny! The house and gardens are beautiful, aged to perfection. His cooked breakfasts are second to none, with both myself, my partner and a few of the other guests all sat around a big table in John's kitchen, having the chats and the laughs - just brilliant. Laughing so much, we were late leaving, and actually missed our ferry back because of it! Haha By the end of our stay, it actually felt like we'd stayed at one of our friends houses! The whole experience certainly made a fantastic first impression, so much that we will most definitely be back. Awesome!

There's a lot to like about Banoge House - it's a lovely old place with spacious rooms and a friendly host. You may have a good experience but we had too many negatives to recommend it. Some issues were minor (for us) - poor wifi in our room, only 1x bath and 1x hand towel for 2x people, no shampoo, a bathroom door that didn't close properly, what looked like cigarette burns on the bed covering. There was no TV in the room, although we didn't mind that. More significant were a very tired and soft double mattress that I couldn't sleep well in and the lack of a proper shower (only a freestanding bath with a shower attachment and no curtain or cabinet). Most alarming were the cat faeces in a corridor (there are quite a few cats around the place) and the diary left unattended in a guest-accessible area with guests' full card details clearly visible.

Recently stayed with my running team mates from Wales, over on an international trip for the British 100km championships. John was extremely helpful and friendly and went out of his way to make us all feel at home. I would highly recommend staying here for an authentic experience! 10 out of 10! Thanks John.

John was ready to help us out with any advice or assistance we needed. Fantastic hospitality. Full of useful advice. A charming rustic guesthouse with real coal fires, cooked breakfasts. Specialises in weekend hen and stag dos. Very reasonable rates.

Very downtonabbey lots of lovely antiques too match the house. John is certainly lord of the Manor nothing was a bother for him very friendly and down to earth. Came back to the house at night to a lovely roaring fire in the smaller lounge. Breakfast quality was fantastic sitting in the amazing kitchen. John didn't mind that we cooked our own due to the circumstances that we had going on (personal) enjoyed the chat with John a very hardworking host. We will certainly be back time and time again. Thank you KIN sir for our fantastic stay

Lovely eccentric place to stay just outside of Banbridge. We went as four women but would be perfect to hire the whole place out. John the owner and manager is very accommodating - ferrying us into Banbridge for a personal event. Fab breakfasts. The place is rustic in feel and that’s it’s charm. Would stay again.

1. Although we had booked a room over 2 months before our arrival, we were given a very inferior room. It would have been much better if we had been offered a choice of room at the time of booking with the proprietor. 2. There were NO large towels in the bathroom and I had to ask TWICE before being given towels. 3. In that room, the wifi operated from a router extender. I asked the manager for the password and he said “I don’t know”. He did not offer to ascertain the password. 4. At breakfast, the cooked food was not ready until 35 minutes after we started breakfast at an agreed time. 5. In the guest lounge WE found cat? faeces which appeared to have been there some time. 6. At the second breakfast, not only did I have to make our coffee, but I also had to wash the cafetière which had been used the previous day. 7. At second breakfast, the “orange drink” was a very inferior product of which only 25% was orange juice concentrate. The drink included much sugar and was too sweet especially compared with orange juice. Proper orange juice was served the next day. 8. With regard to the bathrooms, it would be useful if there are some hooks and a mat to step onto with wet feet after getting out of the bath. 9. Security - Sometimes no staff are in the building and the front door is left wide open. 10. In the first room, the smaller waste bin had not been emptied when we arrived. 11. I saw the person laying the breakfast table hold one cup with his fingers IN it rather than holding the handle or holding the bowl of the cup with all fingers outside. 12. A cat in the kitchen was up on the serving surfaces licking milk from a cereal bowl. 13. No problem with prices but when I booked the accommodation, it was not stated that the price was room only.
