Service extremely slow - had to repeatedly seek staff. Meals not brought out together - some of us had to start eating before others served to avoid food getting cold. Steak dishes and sides were not served as ordered / had to reorganise at table and change steaks so that sides etc matched up. Turkey and ham dish was very disappointing- portion was very small in so much I had to check was everything on plate and lukewarm. Children’s food came out last and in fact last child’s plate had to be repeatedly asked for. Anywhere else would have the common sense to bring the children’s food out first !! And to crown it all adults desserts served first and children had to wait again for their ice cream . I don’t like writing negative reviews but there are lessons to be learnt - you are a family hotel 🙁

It doesn’t get worse than this! This was supposed to be the last hotel on our trip to Ireland, unfortunately we didn’t last that long as we left disgusted after the first night! Of course there were quite a few reasons not to like this particular hotel. On arrival it didn’t look too bad although the corridors did have a kind of jail feel to them. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon quite late and it was very busy. We were told that our room was on the first floor, so we carried our heavy bags up the stairs as there wasn’t a lift. I noticed that there was a place holder for a fire extinguisher right next to our door but it was missing. The room was spacious but lacking any love and the furniture was in dire need of an upgrade. No paintings on the walls or anything ‘nice’ to make it look better. The bed was supposed to be a king size but they had pushed two single beds together, the mattress was lumpy and uncomfortable, but looked clean. The bathroom had a huge door, wide enough for a wheelchair (although with no lift, I had to wonder why)? The bathroom was in need of a lick of paint, the skirting boards had mould in the corners and water marks on ceiling and tiles. The towels were thin and could have been softer and thicker! The toilet paper holder was loose and had small paint splatter marks and a dust accumulation, that had been there a long time and the screws holding the bathroom rail, were rusty. Holes in the door. The seat padding in the bedroom, needed either renewing, or maybe just a new chair would have been nice as the springs were very noticeable and I couldn’t sit there for too long. We had dinner and the sizzling chicken was good. We didn’t have to wait although the staff did seem a little disorganized. There was a party of some sort going on and the guests were drinking quite heavily, our room 208 was in the middle of the corridor and all of the fire doors were propped open (not sure how safe that is). You would think that the room doors would be fitted with those hinges that make the doors gently close but there was a lot of door slamming going on, every few minutes or so. Loud shouting and giggling. Surely closing the fire doors may have helped sound proof the corridors a little but they were still propped open. After putting up with it for a few hours, I called the reception to complain about the noise at 9:45pm, it had been a long day and we had to get up early as we had a lot planned, so we were tired and just wanted to sleep. I’d like to mention that both my husband and I don’t like to complain and it does take a lot for us to get angry. The lady at reception said she would see what she could do but we heard nothing. The last slam of the door happened at 2:05am. I finally fell asleep. Breakfast was as I now expected it would be. The staff didn’t seem interested at all. The buffet was very simplistic just a few cereals and juice, but I was quite shocked to see the toast bread in its plastic bag as if just brought

Over the top service We only booked one night as we didn’t know how long we needed to stay due to a family situation. The hotel kept our room open whether we used it or not and only charge for the days we are here at discounted rates. All staff are incredibly helpful and friendly and hugely empathetic.
