On this trip we traveled the entire island from south to north (Nusa Dua, Ubud, Singaraja, Kintamani) changing 7 hotels, so we have something to compare with. In Astera, our nightmare began with check-in: we sat for almost 15 minutes at the door of our room, until on the third try, only after calling an engineer, they opened it for us. At the same time, it immediately became clear that the door lock was broken and it was only a matter of time before we would find ourselves in a similar situation again. When we entered the room, we found torn curtains and active construction under the windows. Let me remind you that Astera positions itself as a Luxury Resort (there are no words here at all).
We asked to move us to another room, to which we were told that in this case we would have to pay an extra $ 65 (for one night).
This option did not suit us and correspondence in the messenger with the hotel and an appeal to Trip began. At first the hotel did not want to meet us halfway, insisting that they could only move us to a more expensive room category and that we would have to pay extra for it.
When we tried to leave the room the lock jammed again and it took another 15 minutes and the help of the staff to open the door. In my opinion, this is a serious violation of safety standards.
Only after that did they agree to move us to another room. The other room, although of a higher category and located in the main building (the previous one was across the street), also turned out to be not without surprises: the bathroom dripped from the ceiling and at night I almost hit my head slipping on the wet floor.
Most of the photos of this hotel, at least those posted on Trip.com, do not correspond at all to what you see in reality. There is construction all around, and another building is adjacent to the villas with a pool, and its residents can watch you splashing in your “private” pool or taking a jacuzzi.
The breakfast at the hotel was also "surprising": some kind of very diluted liquid instead of pineapple juice, and the melon that was brought smelled like shrimp (I noticed that none of our neighbors touched it either).
In general - it was a complete failure.
