The hotel room is sooo big. I stay a night with my family and 6 people, the staff is super friendly and the room is quite spacious, good and have a good night sleep in there! Reccomended for a big family

After over 20 hours of travelling we arrived at the Puri Saron in the early hours of the morning only to discover that the room we had booked wasn’t available. The security guard showed us to our alternative room, down some steep steps into what can only be described as a basement. The stench of must and damp was evident and there was no en suite bathroom, for this facility we had to go across a hallway into 3 separate rooms (toilet, shower and urinals) all shared. Initially we were adamant we were not staying and after a communication effort the security guard got someone on the phone who then told us that we would have to stay here for 2 nights as the hotel was fully booked. Eventually after a few frantic phone calls to our agent in the UK we were found alternative accommodation but unfortunately we would have to stay here until 10am in the morning. We got our heads down on the damp and musty bed and were woken at 7.30am with a drum beat and screaming yoga above our room. Breakfast was basic to say the least, porridge, scrambled egg, limited fruit and pastries was all that was offered served up in oddments of tatty and broken pots. Some of the seating in the restaurant resembled paste tables. We did not see any manager and zero effort was made as way of any apology or explanation. Upon checkout the guy on reception was very aware, did say sorry and ordered us our taxi which was paid for by the hotel but only because I insisted, it wasn’t offered. It was the least they could do as one valley view room somewhere had been paid for twice. With our very limited experience of this hotel I would advise to avoid. The location is in the middle of nowhere, the scenery and countryside is stunning but if you like things within walking distance or close by then you will be disappointed, this hotel is about 40 minutes to 1 hour outside the centre of Ubud when you take traffic into consideration. Quiet and charming I really enjoyed staying here. The staff was great, my room was so quiet, clean and had the most amazing view. I slept really well every night and I loved relaxing at the pool area. The walk down to the river behind the resort is also enjoyable. The room and the facilities show their age a bit, but that did not bother me at all. There are 2 villages within walking distance from the resort.
