My friend and I had a wonderful time staying at Santosha Villas. The staff was great. Very accommodating, kind and always greeting us by name with a smile. We stayed on the top floor of the pool suite which was set back from most of the other villas. Even though there was construction happening at the entrance of the villas, we couldn't hear anything from that room. We had a beautiful view of the rice fields. For breakfast you have a choice of four set menus with plenty of food. The American set included a choice between fruit and juice, eggs any style ( my poached eggs were perfect) with toast and a croissant, sausage and coffee or tea. They brought breakfast at the time of our choice to our balcony. It was a very tranquil way to start the day. The room was clean and very pretty. Yes , there were ants in the bathroom and a cute little gecko, but it is in the middle of rice fields and jungle so there's very little to be done with that. It wasn't an infestation, just nature. If this freaks you out you should stay in a big concrete resort, not in the middle of a rice field. The location is outside of town but the grab app is great it was between 40000-80000 ringet ( between 3-6 USD) to get into town. The area itself is beautiful to walk in and there are some cute little restaurants. The Pyramids of Chi is about two minutes away and has an excellent vegan cafe, with sound healing and other activities. The pool was lovely. The staff worked hard to keep it clean. It's under trees so they were competing with the leaves but they did a good job. It was beautiful. Again, I will bring up the staff and their care. Everything we asked they delivered with a smile. My friend came after me. Her flight arrived at midnight which meant she got to Ubud sometime between 2-3am. Usually the staff goes home by 10 pm except for the security officer. They had someone waiting until she arrived. He greeted her with a smile, was standing right where the car arrived and escorted her to the villa. Another example of great service was the night we arrived from town and it was pouring rain, there was another member of staff waiting with a smile and two open umbrellas for us. Unexpected but lovely. I chose Santosha because I wanted to be out of Central Ubud around Nature. I wanted peace and quiet. I loved staying here. They have yoga mats, so my friend and grabbed a couple and did yoga on our deck in the mornings before breakfast. It felt like I was stying in someones home really. If you want to be in beauty and nature I would highly recommend Santosha Villas.
