Located very close to Itasca State Park (home of the Mississippi Headwaters!), Paul Bunyan State Forest, Leech Lake, countless biking and hiking trails and endless miles of shoreline if you want to head out to some other nearby lakes. This is quite a beautiful area of the state ANY time of year. Get out and explore the area or stay in the comfort and coziness of the lake cabin playing games, cooking, looking out at/playing in the lake or stargazing on a dark night. Boat, fish, swim or hike in the summer or snowshoe, ski or snowmobile in the winter. Our pontoon from Park Rapids Boat Rental was fantastic and we could tie up at the dock. We went fishing and tubing every day. The girls loved playing in the fresh sand at the beach. It was the perfect launching pad for our kayaks. We paddled through the channels and had great bonfires. The firewood you provided was dry and lit easily.
